Default H2 model advice? (First Post)

Greetings,

I am thinking about getting a new (to me) car and the H2 is on the top of the list. I overnight test drove a real nice 2007 and really liked it. After doing more research on the net I realized that the 2008 H2 is updated from the 2007 (interior and engine). How much difference is there between the 2007 and 2008 engine capability? Enough that I will think I made a mistake going with the 2007? I am not really worried about the interior updates that much, but the upgraded navigation of the 2008 to the 2007 might make a difference to me. Wife just got a 2007 Escalade so I really like the size of that navigation screen which is much smaller than the navigation on the 2007 H2 that I really liked. More like I want to have at least equivalent navi screen size.

It seems like there are a lot less 2008s out there (I think they did not sell as many) or people are still driving them.

While I had the H2 in my possession, the comments from co-workers were mostly negative. I don't understand the outright hate that people have for the Hummer. It looks cool to me, is fun to drive, fits my needs (4 kids). I will probably just get it, but going from the nondescript 4runner to the H2 seems like it will definitely get me more attention than I really want. I just like to drive fun cars, am I really going to have to dodge middle fingers and baseballs?

Thanks for comments,
Bob

People are just jealous. And when they say you only get about 12mpg tell them that their full size truck gets about the same if they pay attention. Hummer just gets a bad rep because this go green crap. I love mine and would never think about getting rid of it unless i was going to get another one.
It will take you anywhere you want to go. It is very comfortable and will turn heads. The difference between the 07 and 08 is the 08 has an ls3 motor which gives about 50 more rwhp. So if power is a big thing for you then go with the 08, if not the 03-07 hummers are just fine.

I too went from a 4runner to an H2 this past December and have never been happier with a vehicle In regards to looks, comfort, power...and the grand winter storms this year were so much more fun!

Don't worry about the haters....they usually keep it under their breath...just thank them for saving gas...more for us!

Jump in...the water's great!!!

iirc, the 2007 model has the 6.0L engine, where as the 2008 modle moved up to the 6.2L

HUMMER H2 2007
Standard Engine 6L 325hp V8
Horsepower 325 @ 5200 RPM

HUMMER H2 2008
6.2L 393hp V8
393 @ 5700 RPM 300 @ 5000 RPM

also witht he new engine, comes the 6 spd tranny, which i have heard nothing but great reviews from other H2 owners.
if i had the choice, i would go with the 2008 model, just based on what i posted. im sure there are numerous interior changes that would seal the deal even more.

as for haters.. i get TONS of people staring, but have yet to get any negitive comments. of course i do get the " hows the gas MPH in it?"
i personally only get 9 to 10mph, but really it doesnt bother me.. after after you start driving it for while and really fall in love with the H2, you will laugh about the fact you get 9,10,11,12,or whater MPH when you tell people, cuz it doesnt matter. even if i got 5mpg, i (might) drive it just as much as i do now....

i still laugh hard when i get these little sports cars who try racing me on the road or from stop lights.
i might not be the fastest, but if i catch you.... well.. i would think it was it another pothole i ran over

there is a link to a site that lists every model year, and changes between each year, but i dont remember off hand wher ei saw it.
