Default Painting H2 skid plate

I want to paint the "H2" on skid plate black. Can anybody tell me the process of what I need to do? Do I need to sand and polish it first, what kind of paint do I need, etc..?

I would take it off and degrease it and sand it. Then I would spray it with Duplicolor bed liner. If you are not going to off road it then I would take it and have it LineXed. If you off road you will scrape it up sometimes, and you can touch it up yourself for cheap.

If you are wanting to color match it yellow, then you would degrease/sand it and prime and paint it. Or you could color match with yellow LineX. Then it would not chip from gravel like paint. Look at it now and I bet you will see lots of small dings in it from rocks.

While I didn't ask about the skidplate while i was at Line-x today I did get quotes on my front and rear bumpers and they did confirm that IF I was able to gouge out a chunk of Line-x they would repair it under the lifetime warrenty. I would assume this would apply to the skidplate area too, regardless of what damage you did. Maybe the line-x would keep it from getting dented up so much too?

Well, if they will repair it any time it gets scraped, I would definately go that route. I just can not imagine riding over a rock with the weight of the vehicle and it not scraping through it some. But if they will keep fixing it then awesome!

I washed mine down with Mr. Clean and rinsed it off and let it dry. Then I taped it off and sprayed on coat of silver Rustoleum and it still looks great a year and half later.

Come guys really LineX is nice if your father owns the shop that is going to spray all the parts for free on the weekend but really-----

1-- roll of masking tape $2.00
2-- spray can of flat black paint $2.00
3-- 1/2 hour time to mask it, paint it
take off tape and say "I did that" Priceless
