It has been a little longer than 6 months since we started the new forums. Already we have over 750 registered members in the family.

I wanted to take just a second to thank you all for being part of this community. It certainly would not be that with out EACH of you.

I appreciate all of your contributions to the site. This is a bad a$$ place to hang out! And our beloved H2 is one bad a$$ rig!

Regards,
Jason

To all of our "Guests" please take the time to register and help our community grow. Thanks again.

Well we all owe you many thanks Jason for providing this place to have fun and chat about something we all love. What will be truly awesome is if this site continues to grow so that you do realize some nice financial gains. In exchange for giving us this cool place to hang out, we'll continue to do what we can to keep this the most interesting and dynamic H2 forum on the web.

Jason,

I've been a Jeep owner and lover for many years. I've owned 7 of them, everything from a 75 CJ5 to a 02 Overland. Getting an H2 was more like a dream than reality so I really didn't know anything about them except they looked "BAD ASS". Your site has been a "big" help with all of the info. and links.

Thanks,
Ed

That is exactly what I meant by "getting a lot more out of it in the end"

- a heck of a lot of fun
- met some great people that I would not have met
- and a great place for me to hang out on the internet

You are all welcome, the "thank you's" are not necessary. This post was a way for me to thank all of you!

-Jason

Jason:

While you may disguise your efforts under the guise of "feeding your own obsession" you have offered all of us an opportunity we'd never have had otherwise.

I now know and count among my friends at least two dozen folks here on the forum. Some I've never met, some work right down the street from me, but we all have something in common: you give us a place to come together and find like-minded folks.

So while you may not have been looking for our thanks, you certainly have earned them.

Thanks again,
Kelley

If this were a club house this would be the hottest spot in town, reminds me of that original Star War bar. This is the first internet forum I visited and until today, the only internet forum I visit.

I ordered H2 8/28/02, then started searching for more data on H2. More data please, more data. Your site was No.1 on AOL search, up to that point, I have never seen an internet forum and frankly felt no need to waste my time on that sort of children stuff, but obviously we were all hooked.

When did the original site start? I knew you said you could not save the old site data.

Thanks a million. Great job. Is there a way for me to order a drink here?

Mac,

I do not remember the exact date it was created, and I definitely could not save the info from the "old-school" forum. However, I rememer being at the dealer in July of 2002 with my initial deposit.

Then I visited a very cool site:
www.archive.org

It shows the past history of nearly all websites in existance. Pretty cool to look up Yahoo! or Ebay or some of the other big guys.

Their earliest records show the site being up on July 27, 2002. So sometime before then. Look it up by typing in: www.elcova.com/h2.
By all means order a drink, but I have not hired any bar tenders or waitresses, so it may take a while before you see it.

Jason

Thanks for the kind words, Bklyn! This post was by no means an attempt for a pat on the back for myself. It was meant for a sincere thanks to all of you guys and gals!

Albie, the history of the name elcova.com:

Briefly, I have been goofing around creating websites for quite some time, with hopes of cashing in big. Hearing all the stories "...of XYZ Co. and internet company was bought out for $100 million today ..." I thought, how hard could it be.

I had come up with an idea, something related to my day job that I thought would be a winner. 100%. The ELectronic COmponent Vendors Association (ELCOVA). It would be almost like a BBB for my industry. Spent days upon days creating the site, and then months and months tweaking it and marketing it. Long story short - it was not working, not one client bought into my idea!

Sometime during all of this, I happened upon a picture of the H2 in R&t or C&D or some other mag and knew I had to have it. (I had an H1 in 1995 that I absolutely loved, but had to get rid of it due to unforeseen events). Went to the local dealer to ask about the H2 and within five minutes they had my deposit. That day and many days thereafter I began my quest to find out more about the upcoming H2. There was very little out there and the stuff that was, was buried several pages deep. I found mself going back to those same pages all the time. After a while that got old and tiresome, looking at one picture on one page, going to another page for another single picture ...

I decided to make use of the Elcova.com site that I was already paying for (with several GB and space available) I copied and pasted all the info onto one page for my personal enjoyment. Whatever else I found from there on was placed in the same spot. In time, I felt others could benefit from what I had created so I submitted the site to the search engines. In time folks began to show up and offer more photos, more info and other ideas that I could use. One of those ideas was to place a forum on the site! In time, it turned into what it has become today.

I never changed the name, ELCOVA because of the high search engine rankings and did not want to risk those. Oh and by the way, I did not get one of the first H2's as I pulled my deposit back with second thoughts about it. Then I began to further watch the site grow as did my obsession for the H2, it just would not go away. I got mine in January as a 30th B-day present for myself.

Bottom line, no one offered me $100 Million for ELCOVA, but I think I got a lot out of it in the end.

Got a little wordy, sorry. But it is a fun story for me to tell and will do so at any chance I can.

- Jason

Jason, thanks for putting together such a great site. I know it's the members that make it what it is but all great things take a great captain at the helm.
