Default Rocky Road Outfitters - H2 Rock Rails

So, I was in Utah last week visiting and figured I'd try out the rock rails from Rocky-road.com. I'm hoping to get the first test in on the Rubicon in a couple of weeks...so we'll see how they hold up. Here's a few shots...

Makes a great step for 4yo and up. My 2 yo really can't get up into the rig very well, although possible. I've thought about putting some no-skid pads on top for the step, but so far haven't needed it... Here's some of the "snow" we got while we were there. It melted pretty soon after, but stayed in the mountains...

Actually, it's at my bro-in-laws place. Just about 1/2 a mile up the street from BYU and towards the mountains. Beautiful area. We were headed to the BYU bookstore when it started dumping the white stuff.

Doc, I think those rock rails would be an improvement for most trails, as the stocks just do not make sense being flush with the body. I extended my stockers with spacers to achieve the same function.

I'm thinking yours are solid tubes? Otherwise I'd be very concerned in heavy rock-garden trails, since even the stockers with those wide "wings" still bend!

Too, when I had my stockers extended out that much, I could not pivot around rocks properly, and kept getting hung up on the rock rails.

Rubicon test coming up!

I believe the main tube is 3/16" tubing. Not sure about the round tube...but I'd imagine it's the same. Yeah, we'll see how they hold up on the Rubi. Hopefully, will discourage body damage...

Nice!
Any problems with the fit or installation?

No problems with fit or install. I did discover however, that the rails need to be braced with gussets at the mounting bracket to the frame. If you compare the H3 rails to the H2 rails, you'll notice the extra bracing attached to the mount brackets on the H3, and none on the H2 rails. Other than that, they're great! Saved me from body damage on the Rubi.

My truck is at the dealer now having them installed. Only thing I did not like was the long wait for Rocky Road to make them.

They claim to be made from thrailer hitch steel. They are heavy.
