Last winter we had some posts about removing ice that builds up in the front lower center of an H2 windshield during snow storms. One idea was heated windshield wipers, which worked, but I'm told the wiping motion and heat/cold cycles resulted in the wires breaking.

I've seen a product called Hotshot that heats windshield washer fluid. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Does it solve the ice build-up at the lower center of the windshield?

Thanks,

George SSSS

Someone on this forum has 1 and said it worked great!
The only question I had was if you spray hot water on a cold windsheild could it cause it to crack?

NJ H2: Thanks. Re cracking windshields, I read some internet articles that said earlier verions of other products heated the fluid too hot and caused cracking. This product heats it to a lower level and applies it in measured bursts which, I think, is the way they solved that problem.

I'm going to install it in my H2. It will get a good test when we hunt in the Utah mountains in October.

If anybody has some first hand experience, i'm interested also. I drove through utah last winter and had a hard time keeping the ice building up on the windshield. I know ebay has the hot shot systems for a reasonable price last time I looked...

I have a heated windshield on my Ford ST that works really well unless the temperature go as low as like 10 degrees below (which is quite seldom where I live). I was just wondering if there were heated after market windshields available?

W1N: I looked all over for an after market heated windshield, but couldn't find one. However, the hotshot system is the more simple solution, and simple is generally better.

Still, if there was a heated aftermarket windshield available at a reasonable price, I'd definitely give it a look.

Best regards,

George

I think Paragon is correct except that we were above 8,000 feet where it snowed each day. I'm not sure of the exact temp.

179.95 on ebay with 3.95 shipping. I've seen them for cheaper on ebay, but doesn't seem to have many right now.

In 100-degree weather, this topic just seems REALLY off to me!

Someone please "bump" this in November for me!
