Traveling out west 8/4 to 8/20 looking to do a little off roading.

Basically its like this I want to hit as many choice offroad spots on the way back from New River AZ to Chicago(I will be in AZ from at least the 8/8 to 8/14 gotta visit the parents.) Probably going to go through Colorado on the way there or on the way back it depends. I would really like to check out the Ouray area. Any suggestions were to camp, stay or wheel. My baggage consists of a Rottwelier and a wife (in no particular order)
