Hiss- Uh Oh- big problem...
Greetings all- I don't post often, but lurk here several times a day.
Just curious if anyone has had a similar experience as I did this morning. I drive my H3 about 1500 miles a week in a sales job in the upper mid west. This morning, it was about 50 degrees outside. I turned up the heat just a bit this morning to take the chill out of the inside of my truck. Immediately, I noticed the stench of antifreeze and the windows in my H3 started to steam up with a film of antifreeze. I knew immediately what had happened.
My H3 was purchased in Fargo, ND- unfortunately I was no where near there. It just happened that I was close to the only Hummer dealer in Minnesota (they have 2 locations). I pulled it in the service drive and the service writer immediately said, "thats not good"....hehe. I explained my situation and they immediately began working on my truck. Within a couple of hours they had the dash completely torn out of the vehicle and were already starting to reinstall a new heater core. They expected that that it would take quite a while to clean out the duct work and shampoo and clean the interior of the truck since antifreeze is all over.
The dealer knew that this is my work vehicle and bent over backwards to try to improve this bad situation. I explained to him that I was stranded there, and he offered immediately to get me a loaner. After a couple of hours of waiting, I drove out of there with a 2007 Cadillac CTS. I must say, given my foul mood and abrupt problem with my H3, he really went the extra mile to make me happy. I commend Wally McCarthy Cadillac/ Hummer in Roseville, MN for not only working hard to make a bad situation better, but they got me on the road in a great car so I could hit most of my appointments with customers today. They are truely a class act.
I am sitting in a hotel tonight, and hope to pick up my H3 tomorrow afternoon...
Again, I have lurked for a while. I have never read a thread about an issue like this...has anyone else? I am assuming it is a freak problem, although the mechanic working on my truck said this is the 3rd H3 in the past year he has seen like this....
