Default Re: Jumping Belt

Check alignment of your idler pulley. Most likely the problem. It does not seem like it would be a problem. If the SC pulley is a little forward of the idler pulley the belt gets onto the front edge of idler which is slightly tapered on front edge and when belt gets to running on the front edge it will just keep working the belt off.

Did not have this problem myself but, have helped a few others with the tip. I also had the problem occur on my 1999 Silverado and just drove me nuts till i really checked alignment of all pulleys.

Hope this helps with problem. If this is not the trouble i would not know where to go from here. On my 99 Chevy Silverado I had added a higher amp altenator which made me go to a longer belt. The new altenator sat a little forward of the old one. I figured out the pulley alingment is critical especially in a higher rpm situation as is with the belt needing to spin SC faster.

Sorry for the long way around to a really short answer but, like to explain what i have learned in case someone else had similar problem with say just a car as the problem could apply there also.

Good Luck!!

TAZ
