I had the insane idea to take my H3 into the rough
this weeked.

Drove over 5 hours to get to the Lost Coast from San Francisco. Camped Saturday night at Usal Beach which was great!
I noticed that there were now signs saying 'Not for through traffic" at tne entrance to Usal Road, so I asked the Ranger if I could drive it.

Usal Road is a tortuous drive when wet rising to 3000 feet and back close to sea level several times on its 32 mile jaunt from Usal Beach up to the edge of Synkione Wilderness State Park".

"I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a winch" the Ranger told me but said its up to me. It will cost you at least $1000 to get unstuck, so we don't recommend it".

I told it I've driven it 3 times in the past and at this time of year it is easy, but he still tried to put me off.

Convinced of the H3s abilities and against the wishes of my girlfriend - we went for it.

The conditions were dry and easy, so I'm glad we didn't listen to him.

The H3 surprised me how nimble it was and it ate up the steep climbs without complaint.

We emerged from the other end covered in red dust, which was the topic of conversation in a nearby restaurants parking lot.

"Glad to see you're getting that Hummer in the dirt" was the locals opener

The otehr good part was driving back for almost 6 hours in luxury
