At least around here snow turns to freezing rain, and sleet. It makes for some interesting driving. One minute you are in control - the next your sideways. The trick I have learned is how to use the rps to both steer, and keep the truck in control.

one of the quickest things one should learn is how not to use your brakes...I see so many people stomp their brakes and head out into the giggle weeds. ABS helps, but also hurts in some cases. ABS ruined the controled skid - at least for me.

Also if you have ever drove a car/truck that is rear wheel drive, with MAD power, and you know what it feels like to kick out - and then regain control through counter steering and accelerator control you will be ahead of the game.

One time, the freeway iced-over and everyone was going like 1mph, and I made the mistake of taking the slow lane. The Mercedes we were in started sliding sideways towards a ditch because of the sideslopes of the freeway!

I had to jump down, literally pulled on the front driver fender from the side, while my then girlfriend (now wife ) scooted over behind the wheel and very s l o w l y inched forward until we changed lanes..!

H2Finally

The key to driving on snow or ice is to take it slow and leave plenty of room between the vehicle in front of you and yourself. Also dont slam on your brakes or you will slide.
