I know when we started building H3's, we had both 4.10 and 4.56. Now I haven't checked in a while, so they could have canceled the 4.10. I'll check it out next week and see if what we are now building.

I looked through the plant parts list and it looks like the 4.56 is the only one for the Hummer, now. The 4.10 must have been dropped. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

If they built any 4:10s they had to be in the non-saleable captured test fleet. If they had sold ONE H3 with a 4:10, they would be required to have service parts for this item.
However, I just did a history check and here is what has been built as saleable vehicles for 2006 H3s (H3 Builder, you can confirm this via the vehicle information system). These were all shipped as PEP/Special Event vehicles, some were sold and some are still in company use (we have one of these vehicle in our garage area for validation/time study at this time.

Now, in answer to why inaccurate information was available for the H3, simple, marketing...
It is not unusual for marketing brochures to be printed months in advance of the launch of a vehicle. It is not unknown for someone in marketing to make a mistake; or anyone to make a mistake.
All marketing brochures printed by GM (or any other manufacturer) will have a disclaimer, stating something to the fact that the information in this brochure could be changed at any time.
Possibly, in the early design of the H3, someone wanted a 4:10 rear end. However, it appears somewhere along the way, the 4:10 was canceled, or the 4:10 was never considered, and advertising/marketing made a mistake.
Can't this be put to rest and we can move on to other subjects?
