I am averaging 18 mpg(combined City & Highway driving) and that's with about 1400 miles on the vehicle. Admittedly, I do keep it in gear a little longer than necessary and I am a little heavy on the gas pedal because, I like the exhaust note.

I know an H3 owner "WhiteH3"(his - Elcova H3 Forum name). He's the first to have a K&N Air Intake kit installed on an H3. K&N's R&D department installed it for him and did some dyno testing too. I'll contact him so that he can post some pics and dyno charts, etc. However, you may want to check out this webpage on air filters. It's technical but very informative...

Are there any warranty issues with the K&N Aircharger system?

I like the Volant myself do we have any figures on its performance?
One concern with any CAI for these trucks is the water infiltration. Looks to me that the oem box is somewhat sealed to keep the water out what are othrs thoughts on this?
The claim water fording in 2' of water at 5mph or so...with an exposed K&N filter my fear is water getting sucked into the intake/throttle body..

I bid on one of these filters and got it on eBay for $130.00. Great price so I couldn't go wrong. I installed it tonight and it was pretty easy. Took me about 2 hours total.
I don't have any engine warning light problems so far and the horsepower gains are very noticeable. When your romp on the gas and it kicks down a gear it will go!
It is lounder but not really for non-agressive driving. None the less the extra loudness doesn't bother me, it sounds good.
I have a question, when should I re oil the filter? When I got just a K & N filter for my wifes beetle the guy at the store said, to do it after about 7,000 miles. This was just a filter not a cold air intake. I am not sure about what to do for the H3? What mileage increase have you noticed since installing?

Somethig doesn't look right. The H3's mass air flow meter is mated to the stock air box. I don't a provision and a "neck down" to relocate the MAF in the K&N.

I looked at K&N's dyno graph again and noticed that the stock peak hp was around 5600 and the peaked moved to 6K with their intake.
