Nice story, little one sided, but its OK to dream that a cop pulled you over because you drive an H2

When he said I'll be back in a minute, he went to his car and ran a "29" Cop talk for he ran your license and the vehicle registration to see if you had warrants, suspended license and so on.

Most of the time cops pull over people like you (meaning nice, hard working people who contribute to society) for small things from time to time. It’s ALWAYS the small traffic violation that finds the dead body in the truck, the drunk driver about to plow through a bunch of pedestrians, the burglar lurking in a neighborhood, a robber who has just committed a robbery. People who have just stolen a car, drive Erratically like this.

As for him wanting to look at your freaking vehicle, NO WAY! They may say that as a way of breaking the "ICE", being polite, catching you off guard to disguise the real reason for the stop. See.......you fell for it.

Look at this way, he stopped you for an unsafe lane change, which is the #1 TRAFFIC COLLISION FACTOR in the state of CA and I'll bet if you go down to the CO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL and ask them, they will tell you it is the #1 collision factor there too.

It’s OK to be proud of the H2 and I certainly am VERY PROUD of mine, but you need to get a life. THE COPS DIDN'T PULL YOU OVER TO LOOK AT YOU RIG!

As for the other comment "I'm thinking.....you just weaved in and out of traffic, put 15-20 people in danger, drove like a madman to catch up to me just to tell ME I made an unsafe lane change?" WE ARE PROFFESSIONAL, HIGHLY TRAINED DRIVERS WHO ATTEND HI SPEED EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATION COURSES EVERY YEAR.............you are not.

Writing about your experience is cool and I enjoy reading about them, but putting words into a police officer's mouth about something as unintelligent as pulling you over to look at your vehicle is stupid.............

By the way, the code for an unsafe lane change is 21650 CVC

Steve, maybe when the subject touches on our own profession or our own personal life we all get a little touchy. I watched those REAL TV stuff, those police road stops are dangerous, they never know what will happen when they walk up to a vehicle on any given day. That is how they catch a lot of the bad guys, and the bad guys usually do not want to go quietly, especially when they are in control of a 2 tons vehicle, or in a car where they can easily hide the weapons. Remember those DC snipers? they managed to get pass some police road stops.

An unsafe lane change has little to do with what lane you pass someone on. What is not cool is driving right up behind someone with a menising truck and then too quickly changing lanes. It scares people when you drive like that and as the other experts on this board have pointed out it causes too many accedents in all countries.

CO Hummer if you drive more politley you will not get stoped by the police! You should be listening to what HeeHaw has to say, there is a very important lesson for all of us in this thread and I am afread you are missing it completly.

Cheers

I know the answer...there was probably a bet going on at the station on whether or not the back bumper was metal or plastic?

Yep that's it. Knowing that it is plastic, he probably was grinning bc he won the bet....

Woooooo, definately some sensitive folks out there- no one will ever know if the cop just wanted to get a closer look at the rig or if he was just doing his job (or maybe both!). Certainly we can speculate as if we were the media for days on this one, but lets not make more out of it than it is. The original posting was clearly just a proud Hummer owner speculating that the cop may have been wanting to see his rig up close. For the record our rigs are over 3 tons, not 2. Humor people, humor! Nobody here accused rodney king of being beaten here, nor were there sniper rifles OR Elizabeth Smart tucked away inside!
Peace, love, and tolerance,
Frank

CO Hummer

Tread lightly.

Remember these are PROFFESSIONAL,HIGHLY TRAINED DRIVERS WHO ATTEND HI (not high) SPEED EMERGENCYVEHICLE OPERATION COURSES EVERY YEAR. You are not.

I wonder if that is the training where they teach them to t-bone us non trained ,non professional drivers like the ones that keep happening in San Diego.

Please dont take this the wrong way because I have much respect for MOST peace officers, especially the C.H.P. The Sheriff's on the other hand is a different story. I have a CDL and got pulled over for not comming to a complete stop in a turn-out going up a hill. When I told him that you dont have to stop, you just have to use it he said I was wrong. Well when we got to court he stood there and lied in front of the judge saying I never used the turn out,not that I didn,t stop. That changed my opinion and left me a little bitter. Anyone that would lie under oath for such a minor thing would definately lie for just about anything. I know thats just one guy and maybe im generalizing but maybe Im not the only one

HeeHaw - Thanks for the kind words. I do appreciate it. I'm not without blame here either. I could be a little less sarcastic in my responses (although it's difficult for me!). Let move on.........

Let's turn our attention to fun......

Hey Paragon...LOL...so now I'am a twat for serving my country? LOL! I have to laught to keep from crying, because I have lost many freinds and comrades in the first Gulf War. Not to mention, 2 in Panama in 89/90 out of 23 U.S. soldiers killed, 3 in Somalia in 92/93 out of 29 U.S. soldiers killed, 1 in Kosova in 99 out of the 2 reported U.S. soldiers killed, and 1 in Afghanistan, and 2 so far in this Gulf War. And these are only the conflicts I can mention, most of American has forgotten about these little wars, or just don't give a $hit. I was just one of the lucky that got a second chance at life.
Sorry Paragon, I got off on a little rant. Just a touchy subject... I know you were joking!
Hey what happened with you keeping me informed on the Hummer Happenings over your way neighbor?...LOL
We have one coming up next month, leaving from sherv. and going somewhere in tx...don't have the details yet, but would hope you would consider joining us.
Later!

One needs to come to a complete stop before making a right turn on red light, which is not allowed in many states, Utah I think is one which does not permit right turn on red?

Got to make sure I come to a complete stop at every stop sign, I have been seeing this same motorcycle cop everyday last week, at different places in my town. I think we only have one motorcycle cop in my town, same guy, Barry, let my wife off the hook once. I turned the corner, ooops, I see him waiting there, "did I stop completely?" Sooner than later my luck will run out.

What Vanity.

Today, the nearby Millbrae police tried to stop a car which failed to stop at a red light, it turned into a wrong way chase onto freeway 280, which resulted in a head-on collision that killed a 20 years old young man from Hillsborough, my small town.
The same Millbrae had an officer killed not longer ago on a routine freeway stop.

I was not upset, but I am getting angry now. I have police officer friends, I had 2 Millbrae officers at my dinner table last week, I know many young men and women in my town, maybe one of them is dead, it all started from a routine traffic stop.

And you think it is fake? you think the cop stopped the Hummer just to admire it? what vanity and what selfishness. do you ever read the paper or watch news? ever read books? now I understand why HeeHaw was upset.
