To all of you who already have the exhaust, do you think it's possible to have a muffler shop change the tips to exit through the rear bumper on either side of the hitch receiver if holes large enough were cut in the bumper? This would prevent the tips from being damaged offroad. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The tips are fine where they are. They are angled just rite for off roading.Thats like taking off chrome wheels so you dont get them muddy while off roading.Timgco has been harping on the tips everytime someone mentions SMA.He doesnt have it on his H3 so how would he know.I would not recommend a shop messing with the SMA exhaust. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The reason I know is that I have had ours off road and almost caught the bumper on an aproach angle. Anything that hangs down is going to get ripped off! If they are tucked up in there, well, they should be fine. But after seeing the pics, I don't believe they would last long coming off a ledge either. I don't have the exhaust for that reason.

Bring your H3 and exhaust to Moab and see if it lasts. I will LMAO when those tips get crushed. Ok, I wouldn't laugh, but I would be right. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Whatever timgco thats fine dude.If it happens ill deal with it.you probably take your brushguards off so they wont get scratched to.let it go about the tips already tired of hearing you go on and on.

What is going on here?

The tips do look as if they can get crushed while off road to me. I also asked about making the tips removable for wheeling. I like the look of them and would hate to have them crushed. I would rather have a solution before hand. I really don't think it is like comparing taking off the chrome brush guard so it doesn't get scratch because it is there to protect. If it gets scratched, it must have done it's job. On the other hand, if the exhaust tip gets crushed while wheeling, then it won't be doing it's job anymore. I am planning on changing the exhaust because I like the look and would like the deeper sound but I too would like to have the tips removable to protect them. Hey, apparently it just comes down to personal preference and to each their own. Nobody was bashing the SMA exhaust, just looking at solutions for a possible (stress possible) issue.
