Not sure we'll have a welcome bag because some of the stuff is in CA, some in NV. There are a few goodies for everyone and a number of prizes.
Whatcha have?

Metal can?
Because you have 4 inches of rack depth, you can probably put your can on one of its big sides and ratchet-strap it in place. A rubber cushion between the can and rack will keep it from slipping and will protect your rack from scratches.
Or you could buy Garvin's J-can rack, which is similar to what I was building today. What I built will work but I'm not real happy with it so will likely pursue version 4. My SUT bed rack is only 2 inches deep. For a variety of reasons that are too complicated to explain, that's giving me some headaches.
From Garvin's site:

Yea i was looking there, i was kind of worried about it fitting...i lost a fight to an old jerry can 1944 vintage. pretty rusty inside.
gave up and bought a new one, after my acid trick did not get all the crud out.

The best shower I ever had in my LIFE was in Las Vegas, BTW! (Howzzat for a bad segway?) I spent a full week camping and wheeling in the desert and rolled up to the Tropicana in my Jeep (this was in the early '80's). I went straight in, stripped off, and stood under the water in that shower for an hour!!! There was sand and dust and grit in every crack and crevice of my tired sunburnt body and that was sheer HEAVEN! Sometimes the only thing better than the desert is finally getting OUT of it!

K...my answers to Toots questions...
1. I'm staying Friday night at the 5 star rated Travelers Inn Biltmore Resort in Needles. And I am camping. The rattlers and coyotes scare me less than a Motel named Bun Boy.
2. Caravan? I don't need no stinkin caravan. Jon - wanna caravan Friday night with us?
3. I'm in an H2 SUV. Black. With a cool black grill.....
4. I have no winch. Dammit.
5. I have one spare tie Rodster.
6. I do have a CB - set to channel 007 of course.

Rod, your reading glasses are dirty, you need to replace the little seat rail cover and it looks like you have burnt matches in your cup holder.

Re: Da List.
The 15 target number assumed we will have cancels, family emergencies, broken trucks, etc. Since any or all of those are probable, we should net between 10 and 12 trucks. That's a very nice number for a trail like this.
As others suggested, we should get absolute confirmation from those on the list. Once we have 15 solid, start a waitlist. If a spot opens up, the first person on the list is offered the option to upgrade (no obligation to take the offer) to the confirmed list.

No, not a bad idea at all. Matter of fact, it'll be a great experience and will show you a little of what your new truck is capable of.
You'll need to take off the tube steps. Eight bolts each side and you're done. It'll take you 15 minutes at the most, less if you have air tools. The tube steps drastically cut down your clearance. Taking them off will make your truck look a lot better, too.

Hummbebe, you are remembering thats the same dates as the NCHG snow run right? I was a little torn between the two but this one being a two day with camping and FIRE involved....well, no brainer!
Let me know if you want to caravan down. I plan to leave fri early-mid afternoon.
Your H3 right? I'm looking forward to seeing it in action. I plan to buy the wife one when the H2 is paid for.
