If you take your H-3 in for service and it requires that it be kept overnite what is the official position on loaner cars?

What if you take it to a dealer that DID NOT sell you the H-3?

I would like to get as much info regarding this issue as possible. (offical position) & {your expierences}

As I understand it they are NOT required to give a loaner, only a ride in their van, or taxi money or etc etc...

Look forward to GOOD direct answers, NOT B S please, don't want to look at ass cracks or see smoking farts or talks that go off on a tangent about another subject not related to this question.

Thank You

RYD

Know before you go (if you can)

If you must leave it at a place which doesn't offer those services, try to negotiate for them before leaving the keys or signing for anything!

Find a good reliable place you trust, treat them right and they should treat you right.

I won't drop any vehicle off just to get a good deal. I may pay a little more (maybe 2-5%) but it's worth the peace of mind and overall bottom line since I get it back when I acspect it back and done correctly the first time. What's your time, and stress level worth to you?

I recently had to leave my H3 overnight for service at my local dealership (I did not buy it there). They give you a loaner car regardless of whether or not you bought your vehicle there. What's really weird though is that the loaners are through Enterprise. You don't have to pay for the loaner but you have the option to use your own insurance or to pay $20/day to have them cover you. I usually pay the $20 because I feel safer (I'd hate to get in an accident and I have my insurance go up because of a claim on a loaner). You're also supposed to return the vehicle with the same amount of gas that was in it when you got it (kind of like a rental where you're supposed to return it with a full tank). Weird huh?

I had the same experience as psywzrd. I had my choice of a free loaner from the onsite Enterprise fleet. This was from the dealer I purchased from though.

the loaner is provided by GM, not the dealer. Per GM guidelines, the bare minimum service would involve you getting reimbursed from GM for a vehicle you rented while your vehicle was in for a warranty repair. GM has numerous requirements for rental reimbursement with other car lines (such as a disabling warranty issue that takes more than 2 hrs to repair) that don't apply to the HUMMER brand. GM encourages the dealers(but can't require them) to take you out of the inconvenience loop and do all the paperwork behind the scenes. Some dealers will even give you a vehicle any time you bring it in for just an oil change(if you purchased the vehicle from them). All depends on the dealer....

On tuesday I brought
it in for oil change, tire rotation and some small warranty issues.I received a enterprise(GM cars/trucks only) and I got a tahoe(very quick for a truck).I recomend waiting to bring small warranty issues in to dealer and have them do required service at that time.I dont mind waiting 30 to 45 minutes for a oil change(I think im going to start changing my own oil).

Know lets talk about checkered spraypaint

Yup, I do the same when I take my H3 for service... I have them check small warranty issues and I always get a loaner for free (only pay optional $20 insurance fee) ... last time I got a Cadillac STS and I kept it for a couple of days.

Not to go off topic, but its sort of on topic .If you use your american express they cover the insurance as would your H3 policy(then you have a claim on your insurance ) Amex is the best way ,I save the 20 bucks

I got a loaner/Enterprise rental when I took mine in to get the Marker Lights and DVDs installed. I did have them look at an issue with the sunroof while it was there which would have been warranty so that could be why I got it. Will see about when I get oil changes. I get all regular service for free for the first 36 months

alot of it depends on your relationship with the dealership. a "loaner" is supplied by GM for certain warranty issues, but not all. certainly not for oil changes, or light bulb replacement etc.. but a good relationship with your salesperson or service advisor may cover these areas.

I dropped mine off about 9am for maintenance and to install air horn. Dealer said it would be ready by about 3pm. Didn't need a loaner, but my dealer said its best to make a reservation for a loaner as they have a limited number of loaners. So, best to call ahead and find out what your dealer can do for you.
