At long last I've got some pics of our hidden winch bumper system. It just came back from the powdercoater, where it was coated with BK-01.
As soon as they're available to the public I'll let you guys know.
My next project is rockbar extenders.

ps. It holds a 12,000lbs winch.
pps. I'll have one on my rig for Moab.

Very nice. One of the better designs I've seen.

How do you work on it, if you get a cable bind?

Like you do with any other winch- unwind it and start over.
I'm pushing for us to use synthetic rope so we can use the Haas(sp?) fairlead. I've found some 3/8" rope that's rated to 20,000lbs.

Super-sweet Drty.....almost to the point of "where's the winch???"!!!!

Some nice under-belly sliders and extended rock-rails would be sweet too!

How does it mount to the frame? Are you going to leave the quick disconnect or is that just for test fitting. Looks like you did an awsome job, congrats .

Drtyfn, that is very professionally done, the best I've seen.
What is it? what do you do with it? I can see some logic if you can push a button, it shoots out and attaches itself to the semi in front, then you just glide your way to Los Angeles, that will be the best energy saving contraption since sex.

It looks great! I would like one when they're ready. Is it designed for the Warn 12000lb winch? I think a 12000lb winch makes a lot more sense for a truck our size. Is the Haas piece a roller fairlead?

Keep up the quality custom fabrication.

Is seeing a winch on the front of your rig that much of a problem?

I have the cradle with a Warn 9500Ti and it is sort of unsightly. From an offroading perspective, it's a major liability. Approach angle is seriously handicapped and I'm always worrying about damaging the fairlead rollers, winch or cradle extension when 4xing. On the Rubicon I passed on a few obstacles because of it.
This bumper will not only allow you to use a 12,000lbs winch without compromising the approach angle of the H2, but it looks good, too.
To be honest, when we first started the project I wasn't going to keep the bumper on my rig after we were done. But after seeing how great the final product turned out I can't wait to have one.

I really like that bumper/winch setup. How does one get around the requirement of having a front license plate? Is there a frame for it or is there some regulatory loophole that I can use to get around it?

Since I'm such a license plate scofflaw we didn't worry about that. We're going to come up with a bracket that slips over the front of the fairlead.
You could try telling the cop you're the Ambassador to Slovokia.

...damn front plates anyway...mumble mumble mumble...
