When I had the SUT in for service recently they put a strap around the muffler to stop that loud pinging noise when its cooling down. It didn't do **** so I'm thinking of replacing it with a Flowmaster. No more pinging and a better sound for the truck.
Anyway, does anyone know what the replacement would be? I know its dual inlet, single outlet, but what are the sizes? Is there one that will be an exact replacement?
I'm looking at a deltaflow 50.

Hey Dan,
If you go with the 50, let us know how it sounds. Midas has now dropped their Ravin line and is going with Flowmaster. I went their shop a while back and they recommended the 70 series. I guess the muffler volume in a 70 is less obtrusive (than a 50) but you still get a great low rumble.
Also, "they" say that the pipes on the Hummer are large enough that a whole cat-back is not necessary to get similar results. Who knows, but I am thinking leaning toward changing out only the muffler this time. The Corsa Sport cat-back I used to have sounded too much like a semi-truck. I rather have a low, powerful sounding rumble like the Borla or Flowmaster.
Going back to your question, the 50 Series Delta Flow sounds fantastic. However, the 70 will give your cabin a break on noise. I had a 50 series on my Tundra and that sucker was loud!

Hmm, maybe the 50 would be too loud for me? I want a nice rumble, but not TOO loud.
Did you have the regular 50 series or the Delta Flow 50? I hear the DF has less resonance and is somewhat quieter.
I'll have to stop by Midas and see what they say. Maybe if I don't like the 50 they'll swap it out for cheap/free.
That's funny about the Corsa Sport. I've heard it and am not that crazy about the tone. It does sound like a semi.

DRTY,
Did you notice any power or MPG gains by changing out only the muffler? I was told that the pipes are large enough on the H2 that a cat-back is not necessary to get the HP gain. Although I'm not sure a nominal gain is material on this beast, I could use the extra MPG though.

I called Summit Racing and bought a exhaust system made by Flowmaster for the H2 . It took me about 30 minutes to install. Just unbolt the one pipe and lossen the clamp and the whole stock system comes off. I told them one of my friends purchased the same system from them for under $400.00 and I believe I paid close to $395.00. Sounds great and has a large Chrome tip welded on it. I called Flowmaster and they said due to backpressure issues not to put on just a muffler; they can give you the part number if Summit can't.

Yeah, I think the trip has me looking at H2 goodies lately!
Too bad the MT/R deal fell through. The guy gave me the "national backorder" excuse and raised the price $70 per tire! Told him to keep them.
No turbocharger for me LV, but I'd do a supercharger.
Thanks for the info guys, I'll hit up Midas this week & see what they have.

Dan I don't know which I got the 50 or the 60, but Im pretty sure its the 50. It sounds awsome, and only gets a bit loud when flooring it to get on the highway, I paid $350 installed with tips and some extra welding of material to keep tips from yellowing

Flowmaster super 40's. Not louder but deeper. Gets loud at WOT otherwise I can drive around with windows down and sunroof open and have no trouble hearing radio and talking to riders. Have true duals. May not make in stock config. I got 2 40's and dual pipes with cross over out the back just past axle and turned down. $275.00 parts and install at a Performance exhaust shop. He first turned them down in front of axle to much vibration. He ran them over axle in stock location up high and pointing down. PERFECT

I installed the Magnaflow 40 and love the sound and the extra Mile per gallon (yes only 1 MPG improvement). Cost was $150 and the deal was quick. Better power and MPG for little money. I would recommend this setup.

Okay, so I stop at Midas after work today and ask about the FM.
The reject basically tried to talk me out of it and I left. Some of his sales pitch:
"What do you want that for?"
"5 business days to get one"
"The rest of the system is stainless. Why would you want a steel muffler on there?"
"You know you're going to be replacing it every 2 years"
"The cops are cracking down big time. They want factory only."
"I wouldn't do it"
I could barely contain myself with this ****tard so I left. I'll be checking the Midas near where I work.

Dan, if they're bolt on, bring them on the trip. We'll get all liquored up and tackle the project Fri night. With enough liquid in our systems it should only take about 12 hours. We'll be finished by 10am!
