I'm tired of seeing all the Jeep vs H2 comparisons when what they are comparing is apples to oranges. You guys have pointed out a million times how a stock TJ, wrangler, whatever can't do what a stock H2 can do. It's also been noted that a stock TJ doesn't have the storage, comfort, etc that a stock H2 does.

Well it looks like Jeep finally came out with a full size vehicle (Commander) that will compete directly with the H2. I can't wait till one of the Jeep crowd gets one and tests it up against one of you hardcore H2 wheelers. I hope the H2 kicks it's ass...but hey I'm biased.

While I really don't care who I wheel with. Jeep, Chevy, Ford.... realy doesn't matter to me. There are those that ar A holes and if they want to compare.... nice stock street tires.

I'm waiting for the H4. Rumor is open top, solid axles, locked front and rear. Almost sounds like a Rubicon.

Then you have "Hardcore" possibilties.

The commander is nice for the road, good for groceries, and soccer moms that want a good ride for the highway with SOME offraod capapbility.

It's a good comparasion. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I wonder if Hummer will put one of those ghey Trail Rated stickers on it.

With a $28k base price, the Commander is clearly targetting the same market as the H3 is. It is not really comparative vehicle to the H2, mcuh smaller and with some very suspect off-road ability. With a mediocre appraoch angle and terrible departure angle I doubt it will even follow a Liberty down a trail.

I kind of like the retro styling, but I doubt it's got any more real off-road ability than a Liberty. In terms of size and price it doesn't compete with an H2, but it does compete with a H3. The Hemi option will no doubt prove popular also.

I just don't get the Commander or who it's aimed it, but I will be very interested in seeing the next Wrangler and/or Rescue. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I sure as hell hope they think about adding some rock bars to that thing... Looks like alot of tender sheet metal...

I saw one the other day going down the road and hated it. There may be a lot of people who will love the looks but not me. I also saw a review of it on a Show from the New York auto show earlier this year and everyone they asked said they didn't like it and that the seating was terrible. As I recall, several of these were Cherokee owners. I think if they got the seating down right they would have a winner for the soccer mom crowd for sure.

I've seen these at the dealerships locally, and they are just too odd for my tastes. I think it's ugly, with no bias against Jeep or anything. For serious off-roading, I think the only two brands still in contention in the mid and full size SUV category are HUMMER and Land Rover. Jeep has kinda lost sight of things a bit (the Frankfurt concepts!?). I see they are even offering cash back in the paper ads for these already. That can't be good for Jeep.
