Just wanted to give bug thumbs up for Rain-X Windshield Wax (I am a stay at home dad with no stake in Rain-X sales)
As opposed to the trtaditional Rain-x which is thin like rubbing alchol, this stuff is thick like wax, so it is not just a clever name.
Really it goes on like wax and then buffs out with a "damp cloth".
Water hits and slides right off, AND it makes winshield maintenace real easy. Bug guts & bird s%^t wash right off and if you drive in snow like here in Ohio you'll love it.
I applied to every window on our cars and the sunroofs, the water beads for months with no reapplication.
For you mudders I'm certain you;ll find the water and slime sliding off your glass rather than blocking your vision!
With all I've read about windshields here thought this might help!

This might be a stupid question, but can you use your windshield wipers when you apply Rain-X?
I was under the impression that you might get some sort of smear on the windshield if you were to use your wipers, but that it was great for the other windows.

You can use your wipers no problem just make sure you buff the windshield properly in other words, read the directions and TAKE YOUR TIME!

Thanks for the post. I am going out to try it today. I'm getting a little tired of the bugs accumulating on the windshield.

Great - I hope it lasts longer than regular Rain-X. While on the subject, has anybody found decent wipers? I replaced mine with the $10 a piece 'teflon' type found in most auto parts stores and they streak 2 months later... I'll pay whatever it takes to be able to see!

Would love to try the wax, but can't find it anywhere!! You'd think that Rain-X would make sure that it was on every shelf here in Oregon. As you know, ALL rain originates here. Which means more mud!!!!

I just use the Rain-X windshield washer fluid additive. It takes a few washings to start making a difference, but you don't have to scrub forever to get the streaks out and as long as you keep adding it your windshield is always treated.

I saw this post and rant out to buy the rain-x. Took it to the hand wash and had them apply. I forgot that it doesn't rain here in SoCal so I won't know if it works until December. I probably should have got dust-x  |

Yes it's great stuff.
Same stuff they use for commercial jets.
I wonder if you can use it all over the car? Stupid question?

I put the Rain X Wax on today and it has been raining here all morning, I was very impressed with it... Works very good, had to go to a few different places to find it but finally did... Also as far as the rain x added to washer fluid, I noticed that when I used that the windwhield wipers would stick to the windshield, and would squeak alot more, may be a design and chemical issue with that stuff, but I know that the Regular rain x and that new wax are excellent, but think that I like the WAX better, easier to apply and you know where you have put it.. I did all my windows and mirrors too... Works excellent....

You should be a salesman for all this stuff, before talking to you, I hadn't been to my local auto supply store in months, now with the polishing of the skid plate and this rain-x wax I now need to try, I have been there 4 times in the past week.

Badrap,
I use rain-x on my windows as well. We haven't had rain here in SoCal for a few months but it's really cool when I spray washer fluid and watch it bead away 
Seriously though, it does help keep the bugs from sticking on that flat windshield and the dust tends to take longer to build up. I like the stuff! |
