Default Wierd smell from console???

NowAnyone that I have my vibration problem fixed, I'm on to my next problem. The last month or so I've had this terrible smell inside the cab. It smells like a dead animal and I've gone over the interior with a fine tooth comb and can't find a thing.

I've cleaned and shampooed the interior, I used a mildew and fungus remover for the ac unit and sprayed the living shiet out of the truck with lysol.

The smell seems like it's coming from the console. I completely dissassembled the console today and can't find anything. Someone else smelled it and said it smelled like electrical... kinda, not like the usual hot wires you may smell when becoming hot.

Anyone ever come across something like this. I can't believe I can't pinpoint the smell... the best I could do was assemble the console and put some baking soda in the console.

I give up.

Mark

I'm sure you've already done this, but...did you check under the hood for any signs of what remains of an animal?

Actually no, I was going to do that but the smell is so strong on the inside I just assumed it was coming from the inside.

I'll check tomorrow and make sure I'm not carrying some animal remnants with me.

Thanks,

Mark

i agree...check for a dead critter...they can work their way into some pretty tough to access areas and kick the bucket...had it happen in another vehicle before.

You didnt happen to eat beans did you?..perhaps thats the smell...LOL

O.C. I traveled to Arkansas a couple of weekends ago and since I got back, I've had a strange smell too. I guess I'll check under the hood. I thought my kids left a banana peel or something in the back but it seems like it is coming from the console or maybe the fan.
I guess I'll check under the hood.
Question, if the air filter needed to be changed would the air coming from the fan/air/heat be dirty?

A certain female member of this household left a frozen turkey under the seat of her old car. Hell, I thought there was a dirty diaper under the seat or something.:barf:

How do you forget you lefft a Turkey under your seat?

A better questions would be, how does a Turkey fit under the seat?

same experience here, but mine smells very faintly like cigarette smoke. I've even had people get in my car and ask me if I've been smoking (which I don't)....it's not an electrical burning smell, so I haven't really paid a lot of attention to it....just figured it was crap burning off a new engine, or catalytic converter or some bs like that......but with 11,000 miles now, I'm wondering what it is.

I think there was a soprano's episode where they hide a fish in some guys car. The smell drove him insane. One day he was driving and trying to find the source of the smell and he crashed.

When I was about 16 we were heading out to go fishing and I had about 3 dozen minnows in a bucket with a lid sitting on the floor in the back seat of my 72 Impala.

Some b*tch cut me off in traffic and when I hit the brakes all 3 dozen minnows came splashing forward on a mini tsunami across the floorboard. I'm sitting at the next stoplight trying to lean over and pick them up and they're flopping everywhere.

The smell from the bait shop minnow-water never left that car

I had a rat get in the heater ducts of my e-type last year. Took me a month to find where the smell was coming from. Very small space but very large smell.

Back during my college days... someone had thrown an open bar of limburger cheese up under a guy's car hood .. from the front end. It must have hooked somewheres because every time he turned on his car heater (winter), the stench of the cheese would fill the interior. It was vile. He searched the interior .. practically took it apart. They lifted the car at the garage finally and found remnants of melted limburger cheese. Geeeez, did it stink.

Did you ever find the smell? I put some freshners in the truck hoping that even though they only mask the smell, whatever it is will eventually fade.

I can't really smell it lately but I'll be damned if I could find a dead animal... perhaps one day I'll find the remnants of one.

It was a whole chicken (kinda tiny), an afterthought at the store to bake and pick on one day.

Twas in the summer. The wrapping had puffed out and it looked like a balloon of disgustingness.

We had a squirrel get wedged between the engine and firewall in an Explorer years ago and that caused a smell for days until we noticed a bit of tail sticking up at the back of the engine.

Pretty nasty, but the smell went away when the squirrel was removed.

No, after about a week, it just went away. Maybe the critter decayed enough that the smell went away. I really don't know what it could have been. I'm going to change all of the filters, it's about time anyway.
