Dash bezel removal.

Toyed with the awhile tried screw driver under the edge first time. then found this little trick works the best.

The 2 cigarette lighter sockets on the lower right side. use your right hand insert first 2 fingers palm up pull forward grasping tops of the lighter sockets.

Bezel should pop right off. there are several plugs on the back you will have to unclip to completely remove it </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Are there any screws somewhere that needs to be removed before doing the two fingers in the socket trick ( sounds dirty ) or is the bezel just held in place by tight fighting it with the inside clips.

thanks </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

No Screws. but if you have auto trans you need to put shifter all the way back. Pull the bottom out and up . The top of the bezel sits in slots above the 2 center vents. you will only be able to pull it out about 6 inches before you wil need to disconnect the cables on back

For what it's worth, I just replaced the cheesy factory standard non-MP3 playing head unit with a two year old Pioneer unit that I had in my trade using the 99-3304 and the OS2/CM1 combo and everything went together perfectly. Both Onstar and door chimes work just fine.

I do miss the speed adjusting volume though. I’ve been tempted to replace my head unit with one that supports Automatic Sound Levelizer (ASL). Has anyone had any experience with ASL? The only after market head units I know of that support the GMC speed sensitive type is Blaupunkt.

I used a slightly different approach to removing the bezel though. I started by gently pulling at the top where the two vents are and just worked my way down the sides pulling the clips loose. It seems to me that any approach would work as long as you have some place to grip and pull straight out.

Good deal Crisco, a pretty easy job after all.
