Some advice for your air suspension

I went camping this weekend and of course took the H2. The rear air compressor was the coolest thing there for my friends as I inflated all the air beds and the rafts with ease. Did you know that it shuts itself off agter awhile? Mine did, in mid inflate no less, and nothing short of turning the truck off and back on again corrected it. Then I needed to make a run for more firewood. I forgot that the hose was still attached. I start the car and air goes screaming out of the hose, but stopped shortly sfter and a light saying service air suspension flashed on my console. I stopped that car, and the rear of my hummer looked like a lowrider. I took off the hose and replaced the cap on the nozzle. I drove a little ways, but it was still looking bad. So I thought I was going to have to make a trip to the dealer. But five miles down the road at the store, the back end was fine again.

The lesson, always replace your compressor nozzle cap.

Thanks for the tip, you would think the design would have been a little better... A $.05 cap holds up the rear, WOW.......

The cap is irrelevant.

Whatever happened had nothing to do with the cap. It cannot hold any significant amount of pressure. The cap merely prevents dust/debris from getting in the nozzle.

The same thing happened to me this weekend. I used the hose for about 30 seconds, shut off the vehicle, and forgot to disconnect the hose. I went for a quick run to the store and heard the air rushing out. At the store I simply disconnected the hose, closed the rear door, and the rear raised back up to its normal position. Didn't have to put the cap back on.

I may be mistaken but I'm guessing that by having the hose hooked up this holds the valve open and allows air to escape from the suspension. By taking off the hose the valve closes thus closing the system and allowing the air suspension to maintain enought pressure to hold the rear at the normal height. Not sure just a thought!

The air hose is designed with a non-mechanical seal so it will leak as a safety feature. The hose is meant to be disconnected once after each use.
