Has anyone experienced a popping noise from the rear while turning?

When making right or left turns when the body weight shifts I get a popping noise.

Yeah, I've got that with my 05, left rear, and right front, it doesn't happen often, but enough. The dealer is researching it as they haven't been able to locate the problem..... yet. It seems to happen most often when turning, or turning onto a parking lot with a grade.

I've been noticing this for a while too. Brad, are you driving an '05?

I'll probably take it in sometime this week to get it checked out.

Mike O, I am driving an 04.

I had an 03' and it did the same thing.

I took the 04' to the dealer and they had it for 3 days and said they had it fixed. They said that some of the rear frame bolts were to long and were catching on something while turning. They said they trimmed the excess length off and it took care of it. It was better for a while but is now doing it again.

If you guy's find out any information please post.

My "03 started doing that after off-roading. It got progressively worse. It started occuring every time I'd accelerate from a stop. FWIW, mine turned out to be a bent skid plate and a rear bolt on the front differential that had become slightly loose.

This has been talked about before, but a click or pop noise on sharp turns when the body flexes is usually caused from the front crossmember. There is a bulletin for this, take it to your dealers and tell them to quit being a disgrace and fix something for a change.
If you want to see if that is it yourself, bet underneath it with an 18mm wrench and a socket and tighten the 4 bolts about 1/4 turn. You may need to use a cheater pipe because it's hard to get good leverage on your back like that. If you hear the bolts pop as you're tightening them, they we're not tight enough.

Thanks Hummertech I'll try this.

The noise sounds like it is coming from the rear though.

I have the same problem. The dealer has told me that this problem is cause by the 12 frame insulators (6 on the right and 6 on the left). They first told me its normal because it only happens when I break or move from stop. Then It got really bad and start happening when I cruise or drive on uneven surface. I took it to the dealer this morning and asked the managed if this is the quality of car they are selling. He agreed that this noise must be fixed because it so annoying and loud. They say they will remove and check these insulators one by one. Tell your dealer about this, they should check this also. good luck.

I experience the popping noise when i first got the car, then it just disappeared. I just installed 6" lift and the popping noise is back and is much louder. Feels like something is sliding around back there, as the rear end also feels rather loose. Let me know if you figure what it is.
