Default It's Official No More Hummers

GM announced it is discontinuing the Hummer brand and the chances of someone picking it up look dim at this time. Hummers will get to be even rarer sights in the future. Will GM send us a letter as to where to take our Hummers in for maintenance? Will Hummer Certified still count for anything? Stay tuned

If they can find a buyer they will sell, they need the money..... Then we can take the little GM badges off an everything will be fine

“We will make a final decision to sell or phase out HUMMER by March 31st of this year,” said Rick Wagoner, who called a press conference Wednesday evening to discuss the highlights of the viability plan. The report noted that a final resolution for HUMMER is expected no later than 2010.

No GM badges on my H2 anywhere!!!!!!

Lot of individuals around world as companies that have more than enough pocket change change to but Hummer. Again the closer it comes to really closing the doors or in fact actually closing doors would be better for new owner as price will be cheap and they can open without UAW to deal with when they turn the lights bavk on.

Also the more GM rattles the door to closing and actually closes the better the woow is me battle and we need the money to keep all doors open. Closing Hummer normally would not be of concern to leaf licking tree huggers etc. except in this case they can use it for their own battle to get what they want.

I believe someone will pop in last minute make a deal for Hummer. Like others have said, they are selling quite well in other countries. We will see. Otherwise, yes, it is sad news.

If Hummer ends up being finished, will Hummer resale values increase or decrease? That may be the bigger question...

That's bad !
But, I don't think anyone will buy the Hummer brand. The focus nowadays is too much on little eco friendly turt cars ...
Well, I'm gonna drive my hummer with pride for as long as I can !!!

You're so right, this tendency for toy cars exasperates me, especially in Europe

It really doesn't make much difference anymore to US owners, if they are bought out by someone else. The Hummer dealerships are closing their doors. The two keys to sales are marketing and distributing and without dealers you can't distribute the product and in the case of a vehicle maintain it through them.
My Hummer dealer up here is closing shop and getting out of the Hummer business this month and was nice enough to send a letter to his past customers. I did notice yesterday on their website, the three remiaing H2s went up in price as well as the nine remiaing H3s. I haven't heard anything about Sewell, or Penske, but I know Lynch is the only one that has announced he's staying in the Hummer business but at a less expensive facility. It is official, in so far as GM announced it will buyout or close its Hummer dealerships in the US. I'm really not sure what the dealer buyout they announced will entail.
Will the Hummer be made overseas and marketed there? I figure if the Cubans can keep their 1955 Chevrolets running for 54 years, I can do the same with my H2. It's just going to take money and determination.
