Default Hi all...i'm new and have a Q...

I did a search and it was touched on...but not completely.
It's about the "bose" system (non navigational/dvd)
Instead of rambling about the details...i'll just explain what i want to do in 2 seperate questions...
1...
I want to keep the stock head unit (i like the steering wheel controls)
I want to add 2 amplifiers -1 rockford fosgate 4 channel and 1 rockford fosgate 2 channel
Now i am led to believe that there ia an ohm conflict with the stock speakers and the introduction of a new amp, and it was touched on that you can replace the front door speakers.....but what about the rest? am i going to have to replace the tweets in the front pillars as well....what about the rear pillars and rear doors? are they going to have to be replaced as well?
I'm not too worried about tearing into the dash ect to get to the controlls, I plan on "piggybacking" into the individuar speakers for signal flow to the amps..
OR...does bose have a "replacement" amp for the one that is allready in use?
or does the bose amp just push the tiny sub allready in the system?

2...
The bose system is set to 16ohms right?
and if that is the case you should be able to drop the ohms so that an aftermarket amp can be used...i'll explain....
16 ohm speaker circuit using left side door and pillar....
door + and - to head unit + and -
pillar + and - to head unit + and -
(to drop to 8 ohms)
head unit - to door -, door + to pillar -, pillar + to head unit +.....
this is also eferred to as "series" where the load source (head unit or amp) basicly only reads 1 speaker wired in series thus breathes easier

so should i just go with option 1 that requires all speakers to be replaced...or is option 2 feasable to introduce aftermarked amps with existing speakers?

P.S..
MY HUMMER ROCKS!!

i think you would get the best results if you replaced and the factory speakers with better quality after market speakers and add a subwoofer , and two amps like you where planning . you could also replace the factory head unit with somethng else and still keep steering wheel controls. i have a pioneer z2 with a pac steering wheel interface and it works great, just like oem ! good luck.

Same Deal!! I GUTTED the Blose system and added Boston Acoustics amps/speakers/subs and Eclipse AVN6610 HU. With the pac steering wheel interface, I like it even better than OEM as you can make each steering wheel button do whatever you want. ie) I have the SEEK button just circle through my pre-sets.

like mentioned, you will get a much better sound from after market speakers. Stock speakers are much less quality than even the in-expensive aftermarket ones from the same brand. They are just cardboard. With a higher powered amp you are going to blow them. I put Rockford Power series all around. Components in the front, 2 8's under the seat installed in a custom box. They couldn,t get a 10 to fit, as the 8's do a nice job for me, more bass than I need, not trying to have mirrors rattle off. I kept the stock amp hooked up still to the stock Bose sub.. not that it does much maybe just adds a bit more midrange.
