Wonder if that means the program will be "extended"? (A dealer I talked to today mentioned it might be a possibility...)

Something to think about.

Originally when the GMS pricing program started the dealers told me if they didn't have the car in stock they would order me one. now this seems untrue, they just do dealer trades if another one has one, however, it seems the truth is, its just a way to get rid of sitting inventory. Typically GM used to basically give old stock away and atleast this way dealers are guaranteed some money. Thus, I think it will be extended but if there are special options you want and have found them at your dealership then jump on it! I am tomorrow

A friend of mine said he read in the paper that Ford was going to do it as well.

I've read some articles about the impact of this on GM -- -- sales increased, but profits got squeezed. Still, I think the mere fact of increased sales is a good thing. I had not owned a U.S. car in more than 30 years. Since I bought my H2, I'm now having a hard time deciding between a Corvette and a Porsche. GM is heading in the right direction, and that is good for all of us.

Profits are squeezed but you can usually make more money with higher sales volume/smaller margin than with lower volume/high margin.

I don't agree with it, but that is a great tag line for the Ford dealers.

I heard from a Ford dealer this morning that Dodge will be starting a program like this tomorrow, July 4.

This article indicates the incentives may continue as well -- plus mentions Chrysler will start a similar program on July 6.

I bought my Avalanche through this program and remain very happy with it. If it is extended, you should consider looking at other GM products.

Personally I hope that GM, Ford and Chrysler all do the employee pricing this summer and outsell the hell out of the imports. Maybe I don't get it because of the part of the country I grew up in, but how can people so easily go out and buy Honda's and Toyota's and Nissans?
If anyone here reads this has bought a jap car new please help me understand. I know we can't always buy American, but when it comes to a car, heck yeah I plan on buying American.

You may end up wiht the Porsche (oh darn!)
I'm pretty sure the GM employee discount is not being offered on the Corvett or H1 (for obvious reasons).

Well, at least GM is moving some vehicles. Now all they have to do is squeeze the unions and maybe they'll turn a profit in the next decade.
