I found this on an Avalanhce forum. Basically a guy was able to put the Caddy Nav system in his 2003 Avalanche. He only ran into one problem and I can't tell if it was ever worked out...

The site is down right now...

Basically, they took a 2003 Escalade EXT Nav system and put it in a 2003 Avalanche. THe system fit perfectly, but had a glitch with the volume, but Delphi said they were going to fix the problem (soemthing to do with the type of amp they put in Avalanche compared tot he type they put in the Ext).

I see no reason the same thing couldn't be done to a 2003 H2.

Just get a Garmin Street Pilot III and call it a day, then you can travel with it. Why risk the time, effort and compatibility problems?
