Here's some pics(taken from video clips) from my recent trip to the Rubicon.
Everything you've heard about the beauty of the area is absolutely true. The vast expanses of granite slabs are enough to justify the trip alone. Then add in the rest of the landscape and scenery and you've got the makings of a truly memorable adventure. And that's just what you see leading up to the the beginning of the trail(GateKeeper).
After some of the recent squirmishes here on the Forum with a few H2 detractors, I have to admit that I was a little wary of what kind of reception my H2 and I were going to receive. It was a very pleasant surprise to get thumbs up and words of praise from fellow off-roaders for actually wheeling with the H2. We met some very genuine people up there that enjoyed wheeling as much as we did. I told them about the H2Source forum and hoped they'd check it out to see that some of us are just as enthusiastic about off-roading as they are. I hope you guys are looking in.

There were only two of us that went, so we didn't spend as much time taking pictures as I would have liked. But here's some of what I've got right now. I'll post the rest when I have them.

Stever, I'm guessing you haven't road around in a lifted H2 much.

I think this is the 3rd thread I've seen you mention worrying about the H2 flipping.

GM rates the H2 to a 40 degree side slope. Travis (hummerteam) took his 4" lifted truck on the 40 degree slope with no problem. I didn't ride with him, so I can't say how floppy it felt, but he probably ran that course 30 times at least and at no time did he hesitate on the slope.

However, Don took his Rubicon on the course and he only took his jeep to a 30 degree slope before he chickened out.

I know you don't think a 4" lift is the answer, but I'm telling you, it is!

4" Lift, 37" Xterrains, and a Front Locker, and you are golden.

If you still aren't convinced, please buy this stuff for my rig, as I'm a broke bastard, and I'll prove it to you. :P

I used my Staun deflators to air down to 16psi. As you can see I'm running GY MTRs. They are the best offroad tire I've seen. Well worth the money. An overwhelming majority of the rigs on the Rubi were shod in MTRs also.

Hear that GY? Now pay me for that shameless endorsement.

Little shelf bypass over Little Sluice. I did that at night without guidance. Kent was down below in the Little sluice and there was no way I was going to make it through there. I wanted to go up the slab bypass to the right, but there were jeeps trying to get up and we wanted to set up camp and have beers.

Remember the rock on the right? Here it is. I now own that rock and it owns a piece of me. I'm bringing a sledge hammer next time to even the score.

Ass puckering leaner. This really sucked at night going up leaning into the wall. Plus did I mention the super fine dust? It's like talcum powder and it's slippery, so imagine leaning into this wall slipping ever so slightly towards it. Looking back it was fun, but during it really sucked.
