Anyone replaced headlights????
Hey all. When I took my H3 in to be serviced I asked about switching out the headlights to the bright blueish LED headlights. The dealership told me that people have been changing them and it has been melting the lenses!!
Has this happened to anyone?
He also told me that I should be able to buy new headlight lenses that will fit with different headlights. Any idea when these will be out & for sale?
Thanks!!!

Re: Anyone replaced headlights????
from what i have seen on here most aare changing with the sylvania bulbs, including me. no melting or other mods happen with the sylvanias.
I dont know about LED ones, but i doubt they will melt the lenses. dont halogens or whatever the sylvanias are produce more heat than LED ones? As i said i dont really know this is just my uneducated opinion.
by the way, where are you planing to buy them from, if its online can you post the site i would like to take a look? thanks

Re: Anyone replaced headlights????
Sylv's are great. They are cheap and make quite a difference. Throw some PIAA's in the current fog light spots and a set on your brushguard, 4 PIAA's on the GOBI rack up top, and your done.

Re: Anyone replaced headlights????
I installed the Sylvania Silverstars and the head lights are a noticable "clearer" light, less yellowish, but I have not noticed much difference in distance but I still really like them. What is the PART NUMBER for the fog lights replacements?

You'll see the difference if you change back to stock
Silverstar fogs are #9145st

LED headlights? LEDs put out so little heat, a hundred of them would not melt the lexan covers used over the headlamps. (That's one reason why LEDs illuminate immediately, they do not require heat to heat up an element to creat light.) Do you mean Zenon, I really have no seen any GOOD LED headlamp bulb replacements?
Unless you increase the wattage to the headlamps, there is no reason they would melt the assemblies. If you install real high wattage bulbs, you probably will melt the wires also.

That's what I thought at first but I guess they do heat up. Here's an article I found online.

It is really easy to install the headlights the fog are a little more difficult to get to. You will need H10 bulbs and H13 bulbs.
Mine only lasted about a year so I put the stock back in until I get arond to buying some more. They look great but I suggest the Sylvania bulbs because my brights did not work after install.

I used H13st for the headlights, but 9145st for the fogs. Aren't H10s a headlight size?

Re: Anyone replaced headlights????
There's a gap behind the bumper directly under the fog lights that's just big enough to reach into.
1. Reach into the gap, twist the fog lamp to disengage it from the housing, and pull lamp out of reflector.
2. Gently pull the lamp toward the bottom of the bumper so you can use two hands. The harness is barely long enough to reach.
3. Pull the harness's retaining clip away from the lamp base and unplug lamp from connector.
4. To install new lamp, plug it into the harness, look through the lens to line up the mounting slots and twist firmly into place.
