Hair dryer to take off decal and then 3M adhesive cleaner to remove all glue residue.

Another method
I use a heat shrink gun, gets hotter than a hair dryer. Start off with a low setting and work up carefully. Use just enough heat to soften the letters. Keep it moving. When some letters start to lift use a PLASTIC tool or your credit card with the highest balance. Gently push the letters off. Do not use a razor blade. It will dig into the paint even if you are real careful, stuff happens. Lacquer thinner cuts adhesive and leaves no residue and will not harm the paint.
I did not get any advertising fee either.
Just be glad they quit drilling holes and putting on chrome ones!!
