Default H3 Navigation

I have a fully loaded H3, with the exception of Navigation. I can get a refurbished GM plug & play H3 Nav unit, at a good price. It would come with map DVD & antenna. I dropped the truck off at the Hummer dealer in Phoenix this morning for the dreaded 'Clunk' in the transmission. I asked if the Nav install was plug & play. he tells me it will not work, because the truck is not wired for the nav unit. is that correct or not ???

Red H3 with all the goodies.

Default Re: H3 Navigation

I have an early build H3, and have installed the Navigation upgrade. On my h3 it was a very simple plug and play. I had the stock factory six disc chnager with XM. The hardest part is mounting the Nav antenna behind the dashboard. (which is still very easy). Total install time 20 - 30 mins tops. I don't think anything has changed with the wiring since they first started building the h3, but you may want to check with others on the forum to verify. I even added a backup cam and 10 disc dvd changer to the factory nav with an addon interface unit from Navtvtogo.com.

You might have to run the Vehicle speed sensor wire over from the connector in the right kick panel, IF it is not in the radio connector. They were supposed to remove it from the radio connector unless the vehicle has NAV from the factory. So, it might or might not be there, but if you have to run the wire, that is only about 20 minutes; max.
You will have to have a dealer reprogram the radio to the GM internal LAN. Not sure on cost, but about ten minutes max by a tech with the Tech 2.
The NAV antenna can be mounted just above the center heater ducts, just above where the radio moutns. That's where I mounted my Pioneer GPS and it works fine.
