So Im getting ready to go out right now and I open my bag, which I put my stuff in at the gym, and notice my Jacob the Jeweler watch is missing. I just called the Gym and no one has seen it, Im flipping out, this was by far my favorite thing next to the H2 Ive owned...if you are in the Sonoma area and you see someone wearing this watch, cut their arm off, then ask if its theirs, I going crazy< I'm sick to my stomach :[

It's covered under you homeowners under mysterious disappearance coverage. Really. If that's a real photo of the watch hang onto it for proof & value.

What in the hell! 7 thousand! Jesus man that sucks, very sorry to hear that. Hopefully your insurance will cover it and all will be well again in the world of things too damn expensive to be wearing to the gym where a $3.00 lock protect 7 grand in merchandise.

4CHURCHILL. Pay attention please. Don't contrive a BS story. If you have a homeowners policy you have personal property away from the premises coverage. Usually 10% of the contents coverage so you should have plenty of coverage. Risks include buglary, theft, robbery, etc. etc. For jewelry, if it doesn't fall in those categories it's considered mysterious disappearance. That includes if you were to look down and find the diamond missing from your ring. Just report the loss and tell the truth. It is subject to your deductible of course. Policies are pretty standard but can vary slightly. Read your policy ...personal property/away from premises/jewelry. If the locker was broken into it's theft/robbery/burglary & you need to file a police report.

thanks vegas, i still have much to learn about this kind of stuff, this is the 1st year of my life ive lived on my own, and im still feeling things out. my deductible is about $500 i think, so thats a big relief, still sad though, this watch is what i bought with the first money i earned through my business when i started it.

If you don't have a rider increasing your coverage for jewelery you may be out of luck. Jewelery and furs are usually not covered at replacement value as TV's and such are.

ED G. is correct. If you don't "schedule" certain expensive jewelry on your policy there may be limits of coverage. But you still should have coverage. Just depends on the limits stated in your policy.

Well good for you. I can tell you're relieved. Just call your insurance company/agent and tell them you want to add some scheduled jewelry to your policy. They may require you to get an appraisal on it. The coverage is not expensive by the way. Oh...and leave your watch at home tonight!
