What is a better tire? Mickey Thompson Bear Claw or the Goodyear MTR?

I've been hearing more and more good things about the BFG Mud Terrains. A friend of mine has a pair of 37's with 50k miles on them. That is way more than I would have expected from a Mud Terrain.

Has anyone seen the February issue of the 4wheel&off-road magazine? They did a mud tire test of six different tires and the bfg mud terrain not only went almost twice as far as the mt/r in the mud but were rated quieter on the street. They also tested the mickey thompson baja claw and it was only beat by the super swampers in distance thru the mud, but only by a couple of feet, but was also rated as pretty loud.

"only 3 ply sidewalls doesn't help the BFG MT"

Most tires only have 2 ply sidewalls so this is a big help.

The part that is really tearing me up is that the MT/R's seem to be very popular, but all my research shows the BFG's to be a better tire.

They are better in the Mud for sure, which is honestly the ONLY place I ever get stuck. As long as they are as good as my AT's on the rocks, then I'm golden.
