Default Anyone Done The Deed Yet..?? Switched Out Panels..??

Has any of you taken the dollar plunge and installed a 2008 H3 Drivers side door panel with the new switch location on your 06 or 07??

Just wondering how much that 08 panels worth and if it will slip right in and mate with the older wiring harness.

Just out of curiosity, I checked on GM Parts Direct..........DAMN ! ! !

Description Year MSRP Price Your Price
Ebony Right 06-08 $503.47 $298.46
Ebony Left $328.49 $194.73

That's just the panels, no switches or wiring.

So the left panel with the switch bay is cheaper then the right passenger side...$194.73. So I'll ball park $300 with switches. That ain't that bad.

Now..the point is...is it just a connector swap out from new switch asssembley to the old. Or is there something else internally that we need to deal with?

When we went to the new switch location, the just went with a short jumper wire that connects between the old harness and the new switch location. Eventually they changed the door harness so the jumper wire wasn't needed. You should be able to get the jumper wire. If I can remember, I'll try and get you a couple of part numbers. The switches are the same, but I believe the switch bezel changed so that would be all you need on that.

I have been trying to find a junked one for the door panels, but no luck yet. I was told they would swap right in from a forum post I did on this subject (maybe on another forun).

Thanks Builder... That's excellent news. But... If memory serves me correctly...isn't the side mirror switch assembly different. I was sitting in an Alpha last week at the dealers waiting to have my rear cargo door handle replaced and I think I remember the mirror switch was different.

If you could get us the part numbers needed to change over that would be great.

Ya- Know....I didn't even think to look at that. That I bet would be an expensive retrofit. Now your talking pulling wire and mounting a camera plus tying into the body puter and or the reverse circuit. Not to mention droping the head liner and a buch of other stuff.

I got me a $99.00 Wireless back up cam.
