Default Optima Yellow Top Battery

Anyone having problems with these. I have had two fail now after short periods. The first lasted 2 weeks, the second about 5 months. They loose ability to keep a charge. I have had 06 SUV electrical system checked out, it is okay.

Any comments appreciated.

I've learned not to use Optima. I had one in the H2 and 2 in another truck and three blue tops in our boat. They lasted less than a year. Hated them. Won't do it again.

Those are my comments.

X2

I had them on my Yukon and then my old H2. I went through 4 of them in less than 2 years.

I changed to redtops and they lasted until I sold the truck with no issues (2 years) but when it comes time to replace my battery, I think I'm gonna just spend the money and get a really good gel battery or something of quality, just not optimas.

put a yellowtop on my h2. Whatever the biggest is w/ the GM side terminals, think it 800cca. I'm damn completely dead if the truck sits for like 4-5 days. There is about .35 amp draw in the off position, which I personally think is high. I've pulled every damn fuse in the engine bay and interior and can't find anything really dramatic.

Anyone else know what their draw is in the off position? You have to wait for like 7 minutes from hookup for all the relays and **** to turn off. There is about 7 amp pull when you first hook up the battery or open a door. Hell that seems a bit high also...

I'm ready to get a second battery and throw'em both sideways. I know my yellowtop is good, i've tested it. Even swapped the yellow top in my trans am to the h2. Same ****.

There is an old problem by where if the front passenger seat is moved and for some reason it is stopped in just the wrong place it leaves the switch on and drains batt down in a few days. I had the problem on my 2005 and friend was ser. manager at Hummer and he told me to move seat just a little any direction and it would stop. I did it and it stopped so he ordered the relay to replace which he did and never had problem again.

I have the exact same problem. I have a red top and a yellow top (2 battery system). After about 3-4 days, the yellow is DEAD. Good thing I can switch over to both and still get started without a jump.

It is a shame to pay that type of coin for a battery just to crap out within 6-8 months of purchase.

Just did a quick calc... .35 amp drain I have will kill a 800cca battery in 2 days.

Anyone else test the draw they have in the off position?

I'm not sure if the quality on Optimas is going down, they're manufactured differently or what, but I put a yellow top in my '08 in July and it went out in December. Now it's got a Die Hard International battery and so far so good. I've used Optimas before and had no problems in my bass boats with them.

I tried to use an 800cca red top and it wouldn't even operate all my accessories. My window roll up modules on my alarm wouldn't work and I did'nt have a custom stereo or anything, just an alarm. I switched back to Die Hard and everything was back to normal. Lampooner STAY AWAY FROM DURA(dont)LAST ! ! ! That is the crappiest battery I can even think of. I have been desperate before and used them and they don't last any time.
