do you guys use regular 87 fuel? I drove from LA to vegas in the H3 and my gas miles was only 17.8 miles per gal. I was expecting 19. Just curious as to whether it was due to the fuel or it might need to be broken in some more

Don't know if you will get the 19 you were expecting except in perfect conditions. How many miles do you have on it? Like you said, could still need some breakin time.

Ahhh, wannabeH3, you really know how to make me laugh! I start my forum reading searching for your posts. I always get a kick out of them.

I use the 87 as well, but from Chevron. I figured it's got some Techron **** in it that makes it just a bit better than the other 87's out there...or at least that's what they claim!

I have to disagree that "gas is gas". Some cars are finicky about gas. Corvettes from 1997-2004 don't have a simple float that measures the level of gas in the gas tank. Their fuel level sender units are notoriously sensitive to sulphur in gas. Too much sulphur (cheap gas) and that sensor is kaput. There's anecdotal evidence that Chevron with Techron can fix that particular problem, and keep it from coming back.

I wonder what the H3 uses to detect fuel level. The simpler the better sometimes...

What about a Chevron station near me. Do you think the gas comes from there refiniery.

My point about gas is gas was related to the fuel and not the 5 gallons of additive per 2000gals of gas.

Oil refiniers share gasoline. Have you ever seen an Exxon tanker pull product out of a Chevron Refiniery or vise versa?

My Grandfather used to sit at the port in Ft. Lauderdale and oversee the gas being transferred from the freighters to the gas trucks - interestingly many "different" company trucks would pull up and connect to the same hose - Shell, Mobil, Chevron, etc.! Usually the difference lies in coloring and additives after-the-fact!
