Default H3 diesel, revisited

Just read about the new 2.9 diesel in the caddy. The H3 alpha should have it. Hell, the H2 should have it!!!! Over 400ft/lb of torque. C'mon GM, pull something truly innovative, giterdone!

I'd love a diesel in my H3. That would truly make it a mean truck for durablility offroad.

Yeah, it is. The new 2.9 is exciting and would be a natural fit. But no, anyone that sticks their head up above the slovenly lemming masses gets pounded back down.

I ain't quittin'. This is a forum. We get to say things like "wouldn't that be great?". If GM had any sack, or brains, they'd take it into consideration. Maybe not run the company like I'd want to but seriously, looking at the current situation of the former big 3, maybe they SHOULD try doing something different!?

I'm dead sick tired of seeing auto shows with concept vehicles, watching skunk works vehicles like a true SS truck, diesel H3s, diesel H2s etc. It's tiresome. I'm getting so that I could care less what they're playing with. It gets old seeing something like the release info on the 2.9 diesel only to have them sit on it for five to ten years if they come out with it at all!

Just like the 5.3 H3 Alpha. It's almost as if they want it to fail as a sales figure. "No, it's only a rumor" then as more trickles out "It's only coming out with this trim package thought up by morons that know less than diddly and completely ignore what's more than evidently the exciting and appeals to our customers, they'll buy what WE think is right as determined by our whackjob study groups"

I'm pretty much just going to quit reading the net and mags and wait until I see it at the stealership on sale after the people like me have let the interest wane in their product until only a great deal like $5k off and 0% financing makes me enthusiastic again. That's one humdinger of a marketing strategy GM. Duhr?

I have an older VW Passat TDI with "only" 135K. I am a big diesel proponent especially since we are going to ultra low sulpher diesel regs.

Diesels make outstanding highway engines, and at crawl speeds are like driving tractors. Great for offroading!

I think GM should drop a diesel in both the H3 and the H2. Having driven the H1 for a while, I have to say I don't mind the smell, and I like the ability to convert the truck over to SVO and get my fuel for free. I have a friend who is building a biodiesel system, and we've got the oil lined up (the places have to pay to dispose of it right now). He drives a 2003 Jetta TDI, and he's hoping to burn the bio in the winter for heating. But diesel is now $2.79 here in some places and gas is up at $3.09, so I don't see any reason why I wouldn't choose the diesel, and it gets better MPG.

I think if it came out tomorrow, it would break records. Particularly in the pickup, and if it wasn't priced sky-high. I think people are going to move to different areas of the market, but the powertrains they're looking for just aren't there. What else can you buy that's got a diesel and is going to follow the H3? Not the Liberty!
