Hey all:

Anyone here installed a CB in their H2? Looking for a good spot to bring in the antenna. (Going to mount it permanently to my roof rack and just unsrew the antenna when we don't need it.)

We'll be getting the Cobra, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...627856-2960614

Thanks for help in advance,
Kelley

I am also going to have the Cobra 75 mounted in the H2. I found an installer who works at Circuit City who also does a lot of off roading.

He said he can mount the control unit anywhere under the dash and the head would go on the passenger side of the console. I am tall so I need the knee clearance on my side.

He is goint to make a bracket for the antenna that will mount in the indent on the passenger side of the rear bumper. He took a 'mold' of the indent shape, so the bracket will be cut to fit perfectly and painted black to match the bumper. This way I can leave the antenna on when I park in the garage.

He hasn't decided on an entry point. I will post when that occurs.

I didn't want to get the cobra 75 for only one reason--The one I have is a POS. With the antenna approx 13' off the ground, you have to be looking @ whoever your talking to. Had it checked out twice, working fine. Very poor TX/REC
I would mount the antenna on the brush guard, route thru engine compartment, thru firewall, then to radio.

I have not touched a CB since smokey and the bandit (when I was a kid)....

What ya using it for? Do your rides use them off road???

Trying to find out if this is something I would enjoy as I am also known as GADGETGIRL around the house!!!

Don't have a handle yet. They're required equipment for off-roading with the Hummer Club, and incredibly useful when on the trail. They kept some of us out of trouble in Hollister a couple of months back.

My dad also does a lot of long-distance driving, and it's nice to be able to communicate with the truckers, or at least hear what they're gabbing about.

HAHA!!! Just what I need...another reason to shop QVC!!! I will check online there to see what they have as far as those babies.

They have the neatest stuff and that's where I got my lazer level...and what fun I have had with that thing. Freaked out the neighbors with it too.
