Default Attempted keying ...

Someone attempted to key my H3. What they did was an 'up and down, back and forth' scratch in a 4x4 square area of the rear passenger door. Does anyone have a suggestion of a liquid compound or cream that might take it out? They didn't get down to the metal .. looks to be more of the clearcoat scratched off. Theplace that details my 3 sometimes uses a liquid cream on other customers cars .. for scratches and such. Maybe that'll work?

Damn that sucks,
Somewhere before I had seen a thread about using the Clay Bar for that type of scratch. Not sure where it is in the past threads. Maybe Early Dec 06.

Good Luck.

Does your fingernail catch on any of the scratches? If so, you're screwed and will likely need some body work done. If you can't feel them, some Nu-Finish Scratch Doctor applied by hand might get it out. If that doesn't work, get someone that can work a buffer. I was too chicken to learn how to use a buffer on my H3 so I had to find someone who was well insured to do it for me.

Sorry, man, that makes me sick. There's alot of 'em out there....wasting perfectly good oxygen. I'd have a reputable body shop check it out before you mess with it. There's probably an expert on this forum that might help you though. Good luck. I hope the bastards that did that choke on their tofu.

Note the gas guzzler that these mutants are riding in. You will not likely see these folks slithering about in cold weather. The road salt turns them into balls of bubbling foam.

That sucks

Where you at home or at a store, see if there are any cameras in the area.

What the Fvck is wrong with people.

Try a home fix first ,if not satisfied go to a recomended body guy.

Any pics of damage ?.

GOOD NEWS!! I took it to the place that washes and details my H3. I showed the keyed area to the manager to see if he could do anything. He recommended using a buffer, but that he'd have to to the whole side to keep the shine even. I told him I'd wait... maybe go to a body shop or the dealer. After a minute he thought about it again and said he had a cream that might work. It did!!!!! The scratches didn't go down into the paint .. it was a surface scratching. It looked like they were trying the scratch out a whole area going up/down and sideways. You absolutely cannot tell there were ANY scratches! This guy did an awesome job. It was like magic.

Fourfourto, all I know is that it happened over the weekend .. most probably Sunday. I suspect it was done in a neighboring town when we out to dinner early evening, because I first noticed it Monday morning in the daylight. I doubt it was done in my area. I am seeing more and more H2's and H3's in my area .. soon they'll rename it 'Hummer Hill'.

Thanks to everyone's suggestions. Totally appreciated. Sorry to hear what happened to your H3, HawaiianStyleH3. That was totally vicious.

you did just what I was going to sugest. a detail or wash guy knows how to heat up the clearcoat and move scratches out or take your eye off them.
