Default Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?

I just leaned how to post and thins to this site so I'm not sure how to post up photos yet or I'd show you mine with 40"s. I'll have to research and learn how to... I understand but being that I just added 40"s to mine I hadn't changed my gearing out yet... I'm still on stock gears believe it or not and I reslly don't think it's to bad. I pull my lawn trailer "16ft" 80% of the time to! It does downshift on hills and is annoying on the highway but I can still cruise 70mph. I wouldn't wanna race a vette or Anything but it I'd tolerable till I get time to swap in new ones... I do not wheel in my truck, with that being said my front end shop just inspected my whole front end... Nothing was worn out an thu advised me to keep running sll my stock parts and not upgrading until they show signs of wear....

If you upload your pictures to photobucket..you can click the img code on the website and paste it in the posting part of this site and your pictures will come up..it took me awhile to do it myself. But I'd love to see your ride. Are you running a flat six inch lift or is it larger? And I'm not hard on my truck either. Seldomly offroad and don't harp on it when I drive.

Ok I'll truant c but I'm doing this from my phone so I sill have to wait till tomorrow. As for the lift its a 6" but actually raised it almost 8". I was reluctant to put the 40"s on it cause so many people on here say u have to regear with those and even 38". I was scared cause I even pull a trailer that prob weighs 4000 lbs. Like I Sao it's not a race truck but I do just fine on stock gears with my 40"s so don't let thy determine wether u get them or not. 40"s look way better in my opinion... With the 12" wheel and my big offset with the 15.5 wide tire it makes this thing very very wide. I love the look. The width of tires just matches the width of the body. Some People would hate this but my tires stick out prob 3-4" outside of body. Very aggressive look.

See I love that aggressive look, and I will say there's nothing like a 40" Toyo..soooo awesome to see in person. I just don't want the truck to be so overwhelming large that it becomes a toy instead of a daily driver. Because it is my daily. I get in to parking spaces perfectly fine now and I personally don't think a lift will hurt it that much, I know parking decks will be an issue as there are only a few that allow that much height. And I also am running a 20X10, I wish the wheel was deeper but BMF only goes to a 10.5 in width. So you add all that up and it's gonna be a 6,000+ upgrade to do all this. What were your figures on your upgrade?

Mine is a daily as well but I do have two other trucks if needed. The truck is big no doubt, it's big from factory. With the lift and wheels I get around fine. Parking is tight but we have no garages here where we live so height is not an issue. My windshield sets about the top of my garage door on my house. Lol I bought my bds for like $2500 I think.... And I got steal on my wheels. Bought em new for $700!! Tires I bought used to see I I wanted to buy new 40" or go with a 38" but after driving on these 40"s now for a month, I'm buying these new and I believe I can get them for around $2100

Stop all this writing about 40's not being that bad. I really don't want to read it anymore. Haha

Like I said, my truck drives so well right now that I don't want to mess that up. Being able to legitimately accelerate into traffic is nice for driving around town and the highway, with "decent" MPG to boot. Sounds like 40's are very doable, though, if you aren't using this as a daily driver. As stated earlier, if I ever get a third car for putting miles on, I might consider 40's.

Then again, I also just might get the thing in my avatar.

What is your mpg right now currently? I'm just curious..I bet your truck sounds awesome too with those headers and exhaust. I wish I could see a lifted H2 up close in person to really get an idea of how big they are..but its so hard to find someone that has one! I've seen one lifted H2 before but I really think it was higher than a 6", too large. But it was awesome. Would love to see both of your rigs in person.

Mines a daily and it's bot bad at allsriving around in town. I can accelerate just as fast as anyone else and I have stock gears! Would I like to get 4.88s, yes no doubt but until I can find someone reputable to do I I'll wait. Considering it drives jut fine now, I'm in no rush. I get 9.5! Lol but then again I do mostly town driving an pulling my trailer.... I also have am engine light on and believe it's a knock sensor... Maybe so that would affect it some to but then again I bought a hummer. I didn't hav high hopes for getting good mpg. Lol

Hey I'm getting 11.0 with 35's! I was thinking you'd be around high 7's and low to mid 8's..9.5 really isn't that bad considering you have 40 inch tires!

Yeah, 9.5 isn't all that bad. I get 10.2 with my set up. 40's might not be that bad.

I hate you guys.

Default Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?

wow that's a lot of talk in 2 days...... had to catch up...

Couple of things.....Dont be afraid of the big rubber! I have a 7" lift, running 40x16.5, dont have gears, do have upgraded steering, no more issues, offroad it a lot and love everything about it.

Okay, so..... Tyler1bo....No I didn't have spacers running 38"s Toyos, just ran 38x15.5 with 20x10 -24mm offset wheels... BARELY fit and even had to trim the inside of the plastic fender in order ot get zero rub at full clock with green keys and full crank up. So beware!...

-You will not get to fit 40s without any kind of lift, that includes body lift.
-First thing you will HAVE to upgrade is your tierods even at running 37s, make sure your ball joints, control arms, etc are not worn out because the wider OFFSET!.... of the wheels NOT the 2" difference in tire size will wear the steering system.
-4" Rancho lift is actually 6"s, add keys and you get a safe extra inch without the bars being cranked.
-I still get an average of 10mpg.....Who's counting???
-38x15.5 will look uber sick if you have the right offselt on your truck

Main point is... dont worry so much about the tire size, 50% of game and look has to do with the right offset of the wheels and lift.

hope this helped a bit.

Default Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?

Thanks for the help!! I know I can't do 40's without a lift..haha. I'm really thinking of your setup with the keys and rancho. Because I don't want to discard my keys once I lifted..and hey an extra inch never hurt anybody! I would love some deeper wheels but we're talking a $6,000+ upgrade to do lift, wheels, AND tires..plus what other steering components needing to be added. The truck will look awesome 6" higher with some huge meat under it! It will be done at some point! Just don't know when..

You guys have been a great help! Good thread here if anyone else wants to add input or pics! Pics are always great!
