Has anybody ever removed the rear vents that are on either side of the H2 back window glass?
If so, how do you do it? and is it easy to do?

The reason I am asking is that I have a customizing trick I'd like to try. I want to wire in some lamps back there, sort of like the Volvo station wagons (lights going up the vertical). I don't know what kind of light yet, but once I get it off, and apart, I'll figure it out.

I just think it would be cool to have the otherwise black vents to have small strips of red running lights and/or to have the brake lights wired up to really show more red light on the rear.

Clues, opinions, any leads to who might already have replacement plastic that is dark, but will pass red light through (that is my ultimate target, but I’d settle for just wiring in some strip LEDs also).

ChuckE, There are vents behind those plastic pieces and they're used to even out cabin pressure. I got a pic in this post http://elcova.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=2826088551&f=5106011751&m=633605936 5&r=1956035465#1956035465

Ok, Ed, thanks. So the area is somewhat in use, but that does not preclude my rigging in some strip LED lighting. There may not be much room, but LEDs take very little.

So, the question still is, how do you remove the vents? I want to see for myself just how much room I have to play with. I looked around a bit, and I wouldn't say it was too obvious of how to get the covering vent off.

Thanks again Ed.

oops, forgot that part There are two screws on the side near the liftgate, remove them and then pull the plastic piece to the rear to remove. It will take a little force to get the retaining clips to release from the body.
