Tire Repair Kit??

Does anyone use a Tire Repair Kit instead of caring around the Spare Tire?
My Z06 came without a Spare and came with a very nice Tire repair kit.
Anyone have experience with this?

I had the same thought before a trip to CO on whether to take the spare with us or not. Just for peace of mind, we took the spare with us as we knew we were going to encounter rocks.

If you rip up a sidewall, the kit can not repair it. If you just puncture it, it works great!

Just keep a load of those plugs from any walmart or auto store you care to go to, the rope style ones that are so common, works great and as long as you carry some wire you can even do sidewalls, sticth the wall closed and goop rubber cement around it and pop those plugs in, may take a lot but it works....I know that for a fact!

Sounds like you've got plenty of experience patching up your cheap tires on that ****box 4runner.

You're the stupid **** that has the antagonizing signature line. I'd say that qualifies you for the "bad sheen" award. And I will follow you around as long as you got it. If you weren't so chromosomally challenged you might have the good sense to realize that **** doesn't fly here.

As for the Rubicon, did it 3 days ago. I didn't see a single 4runner up there either. Not one. And you've never pulled "my kind" out of the way because I know my limitations and I come prepared to take care of myself. And I went to the Rubicon to have a good time and enjoy the experience. It just so happens that my H2 more than proved itself in the process.
If you want to play nice and not be a little turd with an anti-H2 signature line I'll change my attitude towards you in the blink of an eye. If not, too bad, so sad.

LOL........you crack me up, but I will concure that "some" may see it as antagonizing, even though it was just a sig line, no big deal to me.I dropped the sig. so now show me your "nice" side. I am not anti h2 and have not said anything bad about them, and yes I have winched 3 hummers out of holes/ rocks/ snow that they got stuck up in in the hills above Paradise here. I have also winched a number of other brands also. The h1 guy was a "hotshot" going around and off the main trail till he buried it in 8' of snow, 1 in a mud rut and one high centered, 2 of the 3 I just about told to call a tow truck as they were giving me a hell of a time when I stopped to help them since thats what I do when I see that a person, no matter who or what they drive need help. So that is the "kind" I have helped. Done deal now, yea I got pics to prove it,also, but I see no need to put em up for any reason.....kiss me and make up now

as for the spare or not...I have plugs in 3 of my 5 tires...I have never had to actually use the spare. But I have seen a sidewall on a SuperSwamper ripped open with a 4" gash, so best to have a spare just in case IMO. I know you can stitch a sidewall - but at that point I say go with the spare.

I have over 12k miles on 2 plugs with no problems. Plus I always stop to help those with a flat (need to spread a little 4x4 goodwill these days) and I would rather patch it and air them up then change the flat - it's faster and easier.

exactly. the plugs work well for most situations and the kit I mentioned is a really nice one.

while one can "sew" a trashed sidewall, I'd rather use that method if both of my spares are out of commission and I have no other choice. especially with a heavily loaded truck.

When off-roading the spare goes back, however.

I carry the walmart tire plugs (and my spare) but never would have thought to try to stitch a sidewall - good idea if you are in a bind. I encountered such a problem with riding with a buddy of mine when he simultaneously blew the sidewalls out on both passenger tires. Fortunately, K-mart was only a few hours away and we had other vehicles with us. If we were alone I'm sure we would have tried anything, including stitching.
