My H2 with 37s and bead locks

Finally got around to checking out this site area. Those tires look sweeeeet. Just to point it out the stock tires are on a rig that has the sidebar steps, while the big-tire rig has only side-steps. The sidebar does lend towards accentuating a lower profile....so it's not entirely the tires alone....but still; those tires do to the H2 EXACTLY what I'm looking for!!!

And those are the 37" MTR's?

Kelley, I also bought my H2 at Daugherty. They are one of the largest Hummer Dealer in the US. They have been great to work with. I liked working with Mike and Cindy so much, that I sent them four of my friends to buy their H2's from them. Their service department has also been the great, ask for Tifny if you need any service on your H2.

Again, the tire and wheel combo looks great.

Not to be knit-picky, but the wheels are designed to look like bead locks. Bead locks are illegal for street use because they do not meet DOT specification.

If you want to see a wheel with functioning bead locks, every issue of Four Wheeler tends to have rock crawling Jeeps with a set of these off road wheels mounted.

Bead locks are intended for users that air down to dramatically low levels for compettion or serious rock maneuvers.

I'm certain you're right in that there are loopholes or simply specific beaded wheel designs that meet Federal standards. My point was a generalization from what I read in four wheel magazines and what I hear from locals. I live in the mountains and there are a ton of 4-bys up here that run bead locks, but always for trail use only.

The consensus is that "functioning" bead locks are illegal because they are not required to meet the same safety standards as other products.

I've still never seen a rig equipped with bead locks on the street; only off-road or being towed on a trailer.

States may vary on their enforcement too.

I think what it is is that real beadlocks aren't DOT approved.

I don't see why you couldn't put them on if you wanted to. I seriously doubt the guy doing your inspection sticker would notice.

You only really need them if you run insanely low tire pressure though. Those Jeep guys run tire pressure in the single digits with bead locks.

Daughtery was awesome. I'd recommend them to anyone. You should come over for a couple of the bay area events, you guys. We're close, and their a BLAST! Think about Hollister in April.

The offset on my after market wheels are different than the stock rims. I do not rub on my sway bars, but I ocassionally rub on the passenger side plastic liner in the fender well. This only happens if the wheel is turned sharply to the right and the suspension is at unusual angles. The rub is so slight that is has not even left a mark on the plastic.
