Question After Installing new headlight lamps?

Do you have to re aim the headlights? I changed out the stock bulbs of the headlights and foglights with the sylvania silverstars. It seems that one beam maybe aiming higher than the other. I also turned the torsion bars 3x and added 35's, many more people adjusting their rear view mirrors as I approach from behind. I think all of these adjustments may have thrown the beams off center.

Good be very true... We don't have state inspections here. But you do have a good point, ppl are doing the same when I approach.

Isn't there something in the user's manual about turning a screw. I recented had a "light conversion", and they dipped my lights a hair lower using the screw.

Yes, adjusting the height of the vehicle will affect the headlamps. Just changing out to a silverstar bulb will not affect the height of the headlamps.

The vehicle should be placed so the headlamps are 25 ft. (7.6 m) from a light colored wall or other flat surface.

The vehicle must have all four tires on a level surface which is level all the way to the wall or other flat surface.

The vehicle should be placed so it is perpendicular to the wall or other flat surface.

The vehicle should not have any snow, ice, or mud on it.

The vehicle should be fully assembled and all other work stopped while headlamp aiming is being performed.

The vehicle should be normally loaded with a full tank of fuel and one person or 160 lbs (75 kg) sitting on the driver's seat.

Tires should be properly inflated.

The spare tire is in its original location in the vehicle.

To adjust the vertical aim, perform the following procedure:
Find the aim dot on the lens of the headlamp.
Measure the distance from the ground to the aim dot on the headlamp. Record the distance.
At the wall or other flat surface, measure from the ground upward the recorded distance from Step 2 and mark it.
Draw or tape a horizontal line the width of the vehicle at the wall or other flat surface where it was marked it Step 4.
Notice: Do not cover a headlamp to improve beam cut-off when aiming. Covering a headlamp may cause excessive heat build-up which may cause damage to the headlamp.

Turn on the headlamps and place a piece of cardboard or equivalent in front of the headlamp not being aimed. This should allow only the beam of light from the headlamp being aimed to be seen on the flat surface.

Locate the vertical headlamp aiming screws, which are under the hood near each headlamp assembly. The adjustment screw can be turned with an E8 Torx? socket or T15 Torx? screwdriver.
Turn the vertical aiming screw until the headlamp beam is aimed to the horizontal tape line. If you turn it clockwise, it will raise the beam and if you turn it counterclockwise, it will lower the beam.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the opposite headlamp.

Lightbulb Re: After Installing new headlight lamps?

I re-alligned mine just like the manual and F5 said. To my surprise they actually were off quite a bit. Anywho...

Do the bright lights still work with your sylvania silverstars? I replaced my lights with Nyko bulbs. The have the fillament for the brights but they do not work.

I put the old ones in to make sure it wasn't a fuse or something.

I forgot add, before following that procedure, you will have to figure out the new height of the vehicle versus the stock height, and subtract that from the diagram used at 25 feet. This will bring the lights down to where they were prior to raising the vehicle; preventing the light from shinning in the back of a normal size car, and keep you from being flashed by oncoming traffic.

The silvertars are both low and high beams. Thanks Fstop.

Sorry ahead of time if this is a dumb question, but if I just replace the head and fog lights with silverstars without changing the height of the truck, do I need to re-aim?

Thanks

I swapped out my headlights and fogs with SilverStars just before F5 did. Aim did not change and no other vehicles flashing me (except for the hot women who flash me all the time anyway )
