Default Re: first tank of gas on '07 h3 with auto

I use to run my 73 Ford 460 CID Thunderchicken to work. Nine miles one way..I had to run it on 93 Octane or else it sounded like 8 midgets with hammers inside the motor.

Best I could do was 9.5 MPG.....So my 07 H3 is like a Solar powered rig to me.
Gas Milage...Who cares..?? I'm haven fun just talken to the OnStar Beeyoch...

Nope. I have Adventure package (33" BFGs) with auto. Get 17 consistently, have only dropped to 16 when driving is all stop and go in traffic. Most of my driving is highway (or at least constant speed with little traffic). I probably drive a bit more conservatively than most, but I'm not a granny.

I have an 06 with the adventure/Lux and I have been averaging 13.5 to 14.5 combined city/highway. Wish I could get the 17 mpg people are talking about.

Trust me, that 17mpg HAS to be mostly highway or downhill. There is no bloody was with, say 70% city will you get that...

Agreed, based on my experience with the H3 over the last 30,000 miles.

My 07 has just 2000 miles on it now. Base pkg, with the auto. I've been getting 14mpg with it back and forth to work, which is mostly 55mph country roads with stop signs and some city driving. The first tank was close to 12mpg, and that was with 100 miles of highway!

Yea my father had one of those pimp mobiles (460 cid Cougar) of similar vintage. Nice power, handled like a boat, stopped like one too.

the bong sounded and the words low fuel showed up on my dic at 278.4 miles on my first full tank. my dic is not happy, and i usually have a very happy dic, but that's a whole different story. i filled it at 280.6 miles. it took 20.236 gallons of getty 87. hope it gets better so my dic's mood pricks up!

I wouldn't worry too much about your first tank of gas. It isn't even broken in yet. I bet you are doing lots of little test rides for your friends or trips to the store just for fun.

Your getting about 14 mpg.

The best mileage you wil get will be on a long hwy trip below 70mph and without stops and starts.

From an earlier trip this year.....

I got 15 MPG on a 215 mile run!

Not bad at all since we went from Mojave CA and on thru Last Chance Canyon and Golar Gulch (again).
We spent 6 hrs on the dirt roads 4x4 and much in low range and with lots of stops, rocks etc. I gassed up at home and still had 8 gallons in the tank!

I can dig it!

Pretty much the same car Steve. Chassis and drive line. And it does handle like a boat. What is scary ..is trying to stop it at 60 or so MPH. I throw it into Nuetral which helps alot to bring the speed down quickly when I have to stop fast.
Otherwise .the motor tries to drive the rear wheels while braking.
