Default Side mirror replacement

Finally got the side mirrors from ebay for $150/pr.

Question is, how long does it take to replace per side? Any special tools or tips?

Default Re: Side mirror replacement

alot depends on the clips your mirrors have. many of us have recieved mirrors with different clips than in our doors. The mirrors will still work but the wires will need to be soldered to the old plugs. I had LonePalm help me, Thanks again, and if you need help I think i still have the photos and wireing diagram. cant promise i do though. if you dont have to solder then all that is involved is the removal of the door panel removing four nuts off the mirror arm and un plug. installation is just the same but reversed. if you have some one to hold mirror it will go alot quicker. if you have taken door panels off before it will go faster. if not then plan on an hour or two and another half hour if you half to solder.

wish the best

Thanks for the tip. My driver side mirror shakes really bad and need to tackle this soon. If you have the diagram, I really can use it, but if you don't thats okay as well.
Thanks.

I changed my mirrors about a month ago and used this post to do so...the instructions are spot on... ...pretty easy to do. 1st side took me about 45 minutes, the next side was less than 15.

Default Different plugs

Well, my worst fear came true. The existing plug is different than the new mirror. I will need to splice the new with existing.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram?

I have a schematic for a 2005 - on paper - but no scanner here.

Connecting the door switch to the mirror - there are 2 connectors - on the schematic they are labeled C3 and C4.

C3 is a blue 10 wire connector
C4 is a black 10 wire connector

C3 pin 3 - black - low reference
C3 pin 4 - purple - Mirror sensor low reference

C4
pin 1 - yellow - Mirror extend
pin 2 - orange - Mirror heater supply voltage
pin 3 - red - Mirror horizontal position sensor
pin 4 - dark green - 5 volt reference
pin 5 - dark blue - Mirror vertical position sensor
pin 6 - light blue - Mirror retract
pin 7 - yellow - Mirror common
pin 8 - light blue - Mirror right
pin 9 - light green - Mirror down

Left and right mirrors follow the same pinout/connector numbers

I'll try and scan this tomorrow at someplace local and email it to you, sorry if this doesn't make much sense without seeing the diagram.

Default Different plugs

Well, didi not know this but evidently, 2005-2006 and 2007-2008, plugs are different, so if trying to use 2007 or 2008 mirror to 2005 or 2006, it is different.
I have seen the diagram that is posted here, but I am such a idiot that cannot read what goes to what on the actual plug.... Wire colors are different as well on 05 to 07 or 08. Anyone has a good insight on this? Worst case, I may have to sell the mirrors I have and hunt ebay again for 06 mirrors with Blue and Black plugs....

Default Re: Side mirror with 13 wires on driver side

okay, I just went out to see the wiring. 13wires on driver side and 11 on passenger side.
Driver side actually has 13 wires
Red
Dark Green
Purple
Dark Blue
Light blue
Yellow
Light green
Yellow
Pink
Black
Gray
Brown
Gray

Passenger side:
Dark blue
Dark green
Purple
Red
Red/white
White
Purple/white
Black
Black
Gray
Brown

Now, would this be from 2008 H2? Now I am really puzzled...... Most of the mirrors have 11 wires..... Also, the plug is black and white.

Ok so I have the Pictures now, They are not the best quality but it should get the job done. I can not promise this will work for your truck but I have a 2004 H2 and this is what worked for me. 13 wires all together. After Cutting the plugs off the old mirrors I wired them up to the new mirrors. and it looks like this.

Name: P4060042 Resize.jpg

Size: 95.7 KB

So you should be able to see the wires are connected in this order

Old mirror plug Skematic

Blue Plug
Empty Empty Black Purple Empty
Empty Grey Pink Empty Empty

Black Plug
Yellow Orange Red Green Blue
Light Blue White Light Blue Light Green Empty

Order to wire the New mirror to old Plugs

Blue Plug
Empty Empty Black Purple Empty
Empty Grey Pink Empty Empty

Black Plug
Grey Black Red Green Blue
Brown Yellow Light Blue Light Green Empty

You will notice that there are a few wires that are the same in color. I am not
sure if these connect to different parts but if you get it wired and the mirror
does not work properly then simply switch the same color wires untill you
find the right pattern. I got lucky and it worked the first time and I stress the
lucky part. A final tip is to twist or solder them together separate or tape them
then pull the window and mirror control box out of the door panel and
plug up the wires to test before final assembly. When right assembly is
achieved then tape and pretty it up. Best of Luck

And when finished should look something like this

Thanks guys I hope this helps, and a big thanks out to Lone Palm for the walk through on this

My mirror wiring looks different. I have a 2006 but with 2002-2005 style mirrors. Both the 2006 mirror and the older style mirror have the same blue and black connectors (not the newer black and white connectors), but wire colors are:

OTHERS MINE
yellow -brown
orange -gray
red red
dark green dark green
dark blue dark blue
light blue -black
yellow -white
light blue light blue
light green light green

You can see that 4 colors don't match; I arbitrarily matched them to the OTHERS column. Anyone have an idea what might be going on? Or have a schematic for a 2006 mirror? Thanks.
