Default Help

HI, I have an 07 h3 adventure. It has 73000 miles on it. Recently when I am driving down the road the engines starts to cut out like it wants to die. sometimes it happens only once and others I swear it is gonna die. It hasn't died yet, but i know it is in the near future. I was sitting in a drive thru yesterday and it cut out about 6 times acting like it wanted to die. I don't think it is bad gas cuz I always get gas at different places. I have added a gas treatment to it and it still does it. What could be causing this? I have a little baby and I don't want to be dead on the side of the road with her in the car. Just curious if anyone has had this problem and if it is maybe an easy self do fix before i drop money into getting it looked at by a tech. Thanks for any suggestions. Leeann

throttle body is dirty. Need to remove the intake plenum and give it a good cleaning.

I assume since you did't mention it, there are no codes and the check engine light has not come on.

I would replace the fuel filter, check the air filter... and lastly take it to a muffler shop to have them check the cat. If it is partially clogged you will get those symptoms.

Thanks guys. No there isn't any codes coming up when it does it. and no engine light either. Two months ago they replaced the computer cuz it would lose power completely and I got message that read reduced power traction stability failed. And it didn't start doing this problem that I have now until after they replaced the puter.

The timing of the computer swap could be the cause, but sounds more like coincidence IMHO... you are also at the mileage where filters will clog (if they have not been replaced) and a cat can also have build up.

The point of the throttle body could also cause the issue but would look more like a problem with a rough idle.

Actually a dirty throttle body will cause low idle stumble problems and stalling on any vehicle equipped with drive by wire throttle bodies and set no codes, if it gets real bad it may set a correlation code. A plugged cat will cause misfires and set a p0300 as well as turn on the ses light. A plugged air filter will set a lean code if pluigged enough to cause a drivability issue. Anything is possible though but these are my experiences working on these trucks everyday
