Little help please...New H1 owner here
Hello,
I'm glad I found this forum, I've been going through a lot of the old threads and it seems great.
Can anyone offer me some advice on my 2001 H1 Wagon?
- How do you aim the headlights? I see that there are 2 screws of 2 different sizes each.
-What is the best air pressure for street driving and should I adjust the pressure for highway driving?
- Is there a good place for accessories? I'm looking for racks for over the wheelwells and the console between the rear seats. I found Teakatoys.com but their prices seem really high. (they are almost 100% more on the husky cargo liner I bought)
-Why are the running light cutouts on the hood assymetrical?
Thanks, and I'll look forward to your answers and to being an active member here.

Nice truck! I cannot answer most of your questions.
You could try Bluehummer.com or Lynchhummer.com's adventure accessories.
If you mean the turn signal lamps on the front being assymetrical, that extra space on the drivers side is for the black out light, a hint of the vehicle's military design and heritage.

One of the screws probably adjusts vertical and the other horizontal. Just a guess.
As to the tire pressure, go by what's on the tire. You can go above it some, say another 5 lbs. But I don't own an H1, so I'm sure someone else with one can anwer you with more specifics.
Welcome aboard.

I would say go by what's on the door. Door or somewhere in the door sill. Maybe check your owner's manual as well. My only concern is tire listed pressure would seem not to be based on vehicle weight or dynamics, since the same tire could be used on a multitude of vehicles. Or list Max PSI.

Why do the need to be adjusted in the first place, they usually dont come out of adjustment. Your buckets could be rusted out.
-What is the best air pressure for street driving and should I adjust the pressure for highway driving?
Do you have GSA's? Either way a good number when the tires are cold (first thing in the morning) is 30PSI in the front and 40 PSI in the rear
- Is there a good place for accessories? I'm looking for racks for over the wheelwells and the console between the rear seats. I found Teakatoys.com but their prices seem really high. (they are almost 100% more on the husky cargo liner I bought)
You'll probably have to just bite the bullet and fork up. H1's acc. are not cheap at all.
-Why are the running light cutouts on the hood assymetrical?
I could not tell you.
Thanks, and I'll look forward to your answers and to being an active member here.
Welcome to the board. Where are you from?

If you are talking about the driver side recess, the HUMVEE has a special light that mounts in that area to allow them to run at night w/o their headlights on. It is not available from the factory on the H1.

Tighten and loosen the screws - if it goes the wrong way, reverse the direction you are turning that screw
-What is the best air pressure for street driving and should I adjust the pressure for highway driving?
Depends on the tire. I actually had best luck with GSA's at nearly 50psi.
I run wider off-road tires at much lower pressure to get even wear - most around 25psi. Tell us what your tires are and you will get more specific answers.

It really depends on what item you are looking for, but here are a few to go browse around at:
Adventure Accessories (Lynch Hummer)
BlueHummer Outfitters
Rubberduck4x4
Predator Motorsports
And of course, anyone else who advertises in either Ultimate Hummers Magazine or on http://hummer.offroad.com - (yeah, so I might be biased since they pay some of my bills).
-Why are the running light cutouts on the hood assymetrical?
Military blackout light mounts in the "extra space" on the driver's side on HMMWVs - they share the same hood as the civilian trucks.
Thanks, and I'll look forward to your answers and to being an active member here.
