I would like to offer a free demonstration of my new spare tire carrier to some one that would take a chance on having me send them a carrier . I can tell you that you are getting ripped off with the SMA carrier . I can offer you a complete unit that has a bumper to help protect your rear end and raise and lower the tire with a electric screw as well as swing in and out for 1495 bucks delivered to your door if you live in the USA . Anthony, is this carrier easy for women to deal with? What about access to the rear of the rig? If you are frequently in and out of the back, can you easily mainipulate the carrier?
I am looking for an easy to use spare carrier for long road trips, not for everyday use.

Ditto on already having the SMA. That's what the dealer had and the wife insisted on the spare outside the vehicle. She wanted the extra room and better visibility.
